i signed up with a privatized job centre thing funded by the government which i believed was intended to get me a subsidized part-time job. anyway i guess how it works is they only get paid if i work for like a 6 month contract and it all works out or something. and they decided i would be pretty high risk for not finishing, which is true, i would be. so they don't see the point in putting me in their subsidized program and were like just go compete for normal jobs or whatever. but like... not a lot of places want to hire a disabled person for 12 hours a week at high risk at market wages that i'm just going to flake. especially when they could probably get an unpaid intern to do the same work or something. so i basically was like.... whatever... i'll just approach random offices and ask them to create a job for me. but like... i could have just done that myself a few months ago before doing all this job centre stuff. oh well.

i also went to go volunteer at a local charity after she was like oh yes we'd love some help. when i showed up she was like oh well umm not really anything for you to do. these are our slow months. maybe come back in april? oh but you could sweep the floor if you like.

maybe i should email the LABOUR COUNCIL and try to get a part-time job at a union hall or something doing 'militant reformist' work.

lmao sweep the floor that's priceless. don't ever volunteer for anything, that's my advice. doesn't look "good" on a resume because it turns out nobody actually cares at all and half the time they don't even read your resume in the first place.

this is true, also, being able to spell puts you in the top 1-2% of resumes, having proper grammar is another huge step. if on top of that you actually have shit on there that sounds good or relevant? wow

if you can go through a recruiting agency often they are under such impossible time/commission pressure that they'll never check your references, but they will pretend to some employer that they did. or just apply to companies without HR people

good luck in getjob.

There's really no reason not to lie on your resume. Unless you live in a small town and it matters if you're found out or something. Worst case scenario they figure out you're lying and you don't get the job.

Unless you have some ethical delimma about lying to greedy capitalists or something.

#614
ummmmmmm lying is dishonest guys. to thine own Job be true

i've had like 9 different jobs in the 2 years i've lived in NYC. fukk the man. fukk having a good resume.

After some time of being unemployed, I got hired on as seasonal helper at UPS for their peak holiday season. I unload and sort packages from shipping containers in a warehouse for 6 hours a day, beginning at 3:00 in the morning. Then I shower and get my fancy uniform BROWN SHIRT on, and go ride around in spine-shattering glorified golf cart for another six hours in the afternoon/evening delivering mostly expensive electronics and firearms/ammo to southern yuppies in a ridiculous new-money gated community, which seems to have way more lawn care maintenance and home repair workers than homeowners.

On the upside, being outside in the afternoon and being active again in general helps with keepin my mood up during the winter time, and after the peak season it's looking like they might hire me on as a "gen-u-ine" year-round UPS employee, including a pretty sweet full benefits package, part-time daily/weekly over-time pay, and union membership. That, or they'll just kick me to the curb until next winter.

You know, just in case anyone was wondering. Thanks.
