thanks for uncrushing my dreams guys

also check this out lol https://www.alternet.org/election-03918/glenn-devlin-harris-county-juvenile-defendants

Perhaps even more stunning was the result of judicial races. In Dallas and Houston alone, every single Republican judge up for re-election was defeated, and 29 of the incoming judges in those counties are women of color.

But this apparently did not sit well with one Republican who lost his seat, Harris County juvenile court judge Glenn Devlin.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Devlin's reaction to his loss was to throw a temper tantrum, releasing defendants indiscriminately after sarcastically asking them whether they're going to kill anybody. Public defender Steven Halpert reported that "He was releasing everybody ... Apparently he was saying that's what the voters wanted." Seven juvenile offenders were released, including four charged with aggravated robbery.

...It is worth noting that Devlin, along with one other judge, was responsible for fully 1 in 5 children in the entire state sent to juvenile prisons, even while the juvenile incarceration rate in Texas as a whole is declining, and was tough on younger kids and lesser offenses than most judges. So he may indeed have a point that the voters want someone who will not do as much as he does to throw children in the school-to-prison pipeline.

i think we should all be supportive of the angry old man blindly stumbling straight into correct prison abolition praxis. we should have him try to ruin more things, see if he keeps accidentally improving them as well.

enraged former judge Glenn Devlin went on a spree shooting today, apparently intending to terrorize a hospital. while no patients or medical staff were harmed, one bullet did barely graze the eye of an elderly bystander, miraculously scraping away his cataracts and leaving the eye perfectly healthy. another patient reports that a stray shot lodged itself inside her prosthetic hip which needed a screw replacement, improbably rendering the procedure unnecessary and curing her chronic pain.

all 16 police officers responding to the scene sustained life threatening injuries.

aside from the rare religious pacifist, nobody actually opposes "violence" as a tactic, least of all centrists who can't avoid cranking off for a war the moment someone in a grey suit says it is good. what they oppose is violence that isn't carried out by the centrist class, or worse, directed against it (see comparing a mass shooting at a synagogue to anarchoteens yelling at Tucker Carlson.) they've fallen back on Norms because the traditional explanation as to why they get this power by themselves, democracy, the just consent of the governed, has started to teeter under the electoral college and sway wildly upon news that the Dems lost Senate seats while winning the popular vote by 9%
#692
The pearl-clutching about "norms" is mostly generated by members of the media class who backed the wrong candidate and know that they can't hitch their wagon to the Trump White House without alienating their centrist pals they've been collaborating with to launder U.S imperialism and racism regardless of which party is in power, and who know that were they to talk actual policy, they would sound indistinguishable from Trump on 99% of issues. "norms" is purely cosmetic dogshit, it really reveals what an utter sham the entire presidential system is - it is effectively a propaganda campaign, a hijacking of all venues of culture in order to manipulate the public into choosing one manager or another. like why the fuck does this exist? how can anyone believe this perform unless theyve been the subject of perverse social engineering?

anyways despite the overwhelming liberal campaign to sway public opinion against trump and the republicans, and the daily horror it seems everyone you interact with has for the trump admins actions, there is nothing to suggest that the public is anymore convinced than in 2016 and that he wont win next election

yeah like I can respect actual, real pacifists, because that's a tenable philosophical/ethical position even if I disagree with it, but outside academe and monasteries they barely actually exist. the problem is that those centrists have a self image of righteous pacifism and genuinely believe they are actual pacifists, even though on a regular basis they condone violence against absolutely everyone outside of their own myopic political milieu (including protecting nazis for reasons which I am sure must be a complete coincidence)

as with everything in liberalism, the form replaces the content, the map replaces the territory, and pesky reality must be brought to heel

i like it because i know several center and center-right libs who love to talk about how Trump is going to win unless the Dems purge socialism and SJWs from their ranks, and I routinely tell them that they should be Hillary Clinton fans which is funny because they loathe her because they're all huge misogynists

Clintonian Triangulation at its finest. Anyways, been with the family and been happy this whole week, so I'll just drop this old gem instead of a real post about the real world:

Dear Yanis, dear friends and comrades of the Democracy in Europe Movement 25,

After the shameful decisions of the Paris meeting of Minniti/ Collomb/ de Maziere – it’s time to understand that there is something flawed in our project of re-establishing democracy in Europe: this possibility does not exist.

Democratic Europe is an oxymoron, as Europe is the heart of financial dictatorship in the world. Peaceful Europe is an oxymoron, as Europe is the core of war, racism and aggressiveness. We have trusted that Europe could overcome its history of violence, but now it’s time to acknowledge the truth: Europe is nothing but nationalism, colonialism, capitalism and fascism.

During the Second World War not many protested against deportation, segregation, torture and extermination of Jews, Roma, communist militants and homosexuals. People had no information about the extermination.

Now we are daily acquainted about what is happening all around the Mediterranean basin, we know how deadly is the effect of European neglect and of the refusal to take responsibility for the migration wave that is a direct result of the wars provoked by two centuries of colonialism.

The Archipelago of Infamy is spreading all around the Mediterranean Sea.

Europeans are building concentration camps on their own territory, and they pay their Gauleiter of Turkey, Libya, Egypt and Israeli to do the dirty job on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, where salt water has replaced ZyklonB.

To stop the migratory, Euro-Nazism is going to build enormous extermination camps. The non-governmental organisations guilty of rescuing people from the sea will be contained, downsized, criminalised, repressed.

The externalisation of the European borders means extermination.

Extermination is the word that defines the historical mission of Europe.

Nazism is the only political form that corresponds to the soul of the European people.

In the last twenty-five years (since when, in February 1991, a ship loaded with 26,000 Albanians entered the port of Brindisi) we have known that the great migration had began. Two paths were possible at that point.

Opening its borders, starting a global distribution of resources, investing its wealth in a long-lasting process of reception and integration of young people coming massively from the sea. This was the first path.

The second was to reject, to dissuade, to make almost impossible the easy journey from Northern Africa to the coasts of Spain, Italy and Greece.

Europeans have chosen the second way, and they are daily drowning uncountable children and women and men.

Auschwitz on the beach.

With the exception of a minority of doctors, voluntary workers, activists and fishers, who now are accused of being the abetters of illegal migrants, the majority of the European population are refusing to deal with their own historical responsibility.

Therefore, I declare that I’m not European any more. And I declare that I have never been European.

We have naively expected that an alliance of British murderers, French killers, Italian stranglers, German slaughterers and Spanish slayers could give birth to a democratic peaceful friendly union. This pretence is over, and I’m sick of it.

Five centuries of colonialism, capitalism and nationalism have turned Europeans into the enemy of human kind. May they be cursed forever! May Europeans be swept away by the storm they have generated, by the weapons they are building, by the fire they have ignited, by the hatred they have cultivated!

Because of the aforementioned reasons I must renounce the honour of being part of the Advisory Panel of DIEM25.

interesting re: the french protests, how they're trying to pin climate change on a working class that had just burned a bunch of commute vehicles. 'ah gee guess we have to rescind the fuel tax, oh no, the thing we half-assed, to barely slow our climate change policy'

edit- i am saying this now b/c nyt/wsj will keep running versions of this same story, mark my fuckin words, that despite everything you hear around you, the slow-rising panic, that there's anti-support for a zero-emission economy. they'll claim it in the papers proportionally to our hearing of the opposite. obviously the bourgeoisie plan and orchestrate climate change. climate change is policy. they claim to own all the earth's carbon, they force millions to dig drill and refine it, on rigs and wells they claim to own, kill millions to speed up the rate it enters the atmosphere. maybe the nyt/wsj/bbc line will work on a few guilt-drowned whites but you only have to think about it half a second to see which class made climate change policy for profit, and which class is forced to enact the policy at its expense.
