One fun way to think about it, rather than as Fox News knowingly exploiting troll jokes for evil ends and making trolling bad now, is to instead think of it as like... a symbiotic relationship. It benefits Fox because it increases the fervor of their unruly fascist mob, and for the trolls it gives them a hilariously big platform and trolls millions. How beautiful the way things work out in nature.

so call me crazy if i'm missing something here but i've been thinking about how the only impressive liberal achievements of the last ten years - marriage equality and marijuana legalization - have been popular pressure from state referenda overruling party orthodoxy. what if you used this to pass a law saying you couldnt run for a national position under the democratic party unless you supported medicare for all? i'm not saying that this wouldnt make entrenched officials run anyway under 3rd parties im wondering if there's something else i'm missing here because it seems like an imperfect way to pressure the bastards
