Jim Prentice, the leader of the conservative party that has dominated the province uncontested for 40 years (and the almost identical SocCred party did the same thing for 40 years before that) led a completely disastrous campaign that lost his party a whopping 59 seats in an 87 seat legislature, handing a parliamentary majority to the vaguely socialist NDP and the official opposition to the fascist Koch-funded Wild Rose. Next election without a split right they will effortlessly win a majority and piledriver the earth straight into hell. Not that any of this really matters, as no elected government will ever change the fact that we are a genocidal colonial imperialist petrostate.

there was an article in the financial post where some agribusiness journalist was basically furious like alright it's stupid that rookie socialist politicians that are like 30 years old and have no experience running anything are now going to run our entire provincial economy. so i'm going to say that he's sort of right, that business wouldn't allow that, but he doesn't understand that they aren't allowing that. and the left needs to remember that too. like yeah there are going to be new articulations within the energy sector, and between sectors, accompanied with a lot of rhetoric, but the real day-to-day decisions will still all be made by banks and investors.

i also want to talk about how leftism isn't about trying to be a superego for blairites. like just trying to make the NDP keep promises is a terrible strategy for the left, especially if you have goals of any sort.

but i'm only talking for like 15 minutes i guess.
