why are you operating under the assumption that most police recruits are naive but well-meaning citizens doing what they think is their civic duty who become irredeemably corrupted by the existing system, while Troops are soulless, inhuman gibbering shades, born possessing nothing but the desire to grind human lives and tissues into a thin garmanbozic paste when so clearly it is the opposite which is true?

By this same "logic" and common, Middle-American, and most always anti-Communist paean to reductive, theory and critical analysis-bereft small-picture statistics, Stalin would technically be worse than every current member of the US military and police forces combined. Enjoy your Ban

Yesterday I met a friend of a friend who has been trying to be a cop but his masters degree makes him overqualified. I'm pretty sure in the military they'd just fast track him to an officer position
#88
you know what's even worse than military police? a police militia.

Hey, remember when the US military surveilled, infiltrated, and crippled/destroyed virtually every single active, effective leftist organization in United States history, preventing all positive government reforms and allowing the cancer of fascism to spread unchecked not only into and from its very heart, but down and along its innumerable tentacles, choking the lifeblood out of the entire global community?

Yes, if you remove the superfluous modifier "United States" at the beginning

I can identify troops by their eyes now. I'm not kidding. There are some who do not have this characteristic, but so far I've yet to have a false positive, someone who had it but was never a troop. It is a very specific look, like the eyes of a cow from a Steven King novel. I call it "baffled malevolence"

#91
i can identify Troops by the fact that they wear their fucking fatigues at the grocery store

and on top of that you have the significant number of police officers who are in fact former military themselves, usually the absolute worst of the bunch, incapable of shame, guilt, or the self-cleansing fire of PTSD, whose bloodlust and rapelust were not fully quenched by their experiences overseas, leaving them ready and eager to take the sins they learned in Hell and show them off to everyone back home

What's more, police departments are at least as fond of hiring infantrymen as MPs, because they want people good in a firefight. So to answer the OP: not only are Cops the new Troops, but they're often the 10% shooty-troops.

I heard this from a RANGER irl. He also went on about how cool a collateral damage incident was because children grow up to be terrorists anyway. This coming from a forward observer. R Troops.

#95
hire these troops before they shoot themselves in their fat faces

thinking cops are worse than troops is white privilege

have you ever noticed how all the people you hate for their evil- capitalists, their lackeys, cops, bankers, whites, men, etc - are the people with the power, and the people you defend and advocate are the people with little or no power? we can see that misanthropy is wrong because if the script was flipped somehow and all the oppressed were given the power, they would be inherently less corrupt and more competent. lol
#98
a popular theme in history is the attempt to build procedures and institutions that might change arbitrary powers into ones where individuals and social groups are respected and protected in various ways.
#99
the Enlightenment schema of the separation of powers continues to persist because it is essentially misanthropic; it describes nature, rather than attempts to force a fantasy upon it
#100
hmm... are you saying that socialism doesn't work because of human nature? someone give this guy a think tank.
#101
socialism means that the workers own the means of production instead of rentiers. this is not disqualified by human nature, but must be implemented with a knowledge of it, perhaps by balancing greed and hate against stupidity and cowardice

Aren't you worried that abolishing social inequality would only lead to deeper stratification based on natural human inequalities of strength, intelligence, beauty, and charisma? If you didn't have the advantage of what you inherited in wealth, or the chance that you could get lucky in the market, where do you think socialist society would sort you?

Greed and hate are not part of human nature, but they are genetically inherent among the ruling class. I therefore advocate a program of eugenics. Breed Out The Rich

i know i know nypost but

Angry union leaders have ordered drastic measures for their members since the Dec. 20 assassination of two NYPD cops in a patrol car, including that two units respond to every call.

It has helped contribute to a nose dive in low-level policing, with overall arrests down 66 percent for the week starting Dec. 22 compared with the same period in 2013, stats show.

Citations for traffic violations fell by 94 percent, from 10,069 to 587, during that time frame.

Summonses for low-level offenses like public drinking and urination also plunged 94 percent — from 4,831 to 300.

Even parking violations are way down, dropping by 92 percent, from 14,699 to 1,241.

Drug arrests by cops assigned to the NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau — which are part of the overall number — dropped by 84 percent, from 382 to 63.

even the anti-street-gang arm of OCCB are plainclothes investigative forces. basically what this says is that they threw a hissy fit and stopped raiding the basements of fat ukrainian mid level mobsters where there is zero threat to cops in the first place.
