one thing i noticed about the force awakens, having paid to see it, repeatedly, is that they bill it as episode vii, ie the next movie in the epic series, but actually it's literally just a stealth remake of the original movie. and that's actually why people like it so much, i think, because it's familiar and good while also having the illusion of being new content.

Daisy is Luke, and she's on a desert planet that is Luke's desert planet. the death star is the death star and the empire and rebel alliance are the same but with new names. han solo is han solo. kylo ren is vader. the bar on that planet with the weird eyes lady is the mos eisley cantina. the black stormstrooper is leia.

star wars was real fun to watch and i liked the characters. my gay son was too little to go but my daughter liked it. disney wants girls to get into star wars too, which is cool because some nerds are mad about it without realizing how economically irrelevant their misogyny is. capital cannot abide a limit to profitability
