No it's because Haley may be a sort of pseudo-human robot without moral programming, but right now she cannot summon the people who would angrily, tearily defend the fascist fear of history's march. Even online!! And one big sign of why is that her people capped this weak post with the statement "we must vote Joe Biden out." Of course it's pathetic that her campaign is afraid to suggest people vote for her, in an era where the old standby "vote the bum out" has been replaced for her party with "i'm the most bloated balloon at the the rodeo", but… there's a more fundamental problem.
The AmeriKKKoids who would otherwise scuttle in to defend the Haley post specifically because of how stupid and empty it is… those people today live a 24/7 half-believed LARP, and the core narrative is that Actually, they don't need to vote Biden out. A Trump appointee saying that they do is coward shit to them. It also makes them nervous, makes them feel like important people are laughing at them somewhere. Because per their petty-bourgeois/lumpen part-time life quest… Biden lost the election, or would have been declared to have lost the election if Pence or the Supreme Court hadn't betrayed them, and so, if they keep doing… something… the existing government will be lawyered into installing Trump as president retroactively, soon and very soon, by power of sovereign-citizen-theory-style KKKonstitution magick. Either that or they're pretending to believe that out of desire for clout or lack of friends, and if they give up now, their fellow bugs will cannibalize them, so, same difference. So, the Jan-6ers who Nikki Haley needs do not like Nikki Haley, because (1) they’re racists but also (2) electing a former Trump official running against Trump would snap their fantasy in two over God's knee. It’s not like the other drips trying to be the candidate, where if they won, they'd maybe spend a year or two suggesting that Trump actually won too back in 2020 and it's just too bad no one can do anything about it now, and the LARPers could sort of continue to live the fantasy until they’re bored of it, then retire it quietly with minimal personal embarrassment. Without those people, the only natural home for Haley as an outmoded sociopath is the "never-Trumper" Republican media set, and they lost all relevance when a Democrat got elected. But heck maybe something will change and she'll win this time instead of winning any later HHIC election which would also vindicate me completely.
I described everything Pence had to do to become the presumptive nominee, back when people here were discussing him as the potential anonymous writer of the anti-Trump Republican op-ed in 2018. He had to play ball with the feds against Trump, and he had to otherwise keep his head down until people forgot about it and he could sell himself as Trump 2.0. Memories are short, in 2001 people were calling Joe Lieberman the shoo-in 2004 Democrat candidate because he and Dick Cheney made kissy-face at each other during the VP debates, no one in the Washington press thinks hard. Even if Trump didn't promptly have a stroke or die of old age, the slate could have been blanked in time for Pence.
Well he couldn't keep his head down because Trump asked him to overturn the election, the two requirements for his candidacy came into direct conflict, so the Trump people sent excited texts to each other LARPing a lynch mob, they set up a gallows for him, the primary voters every Republican candidate needs literally want Pence dead to this day, and on top of that, he is a very bad figurehead even for the anti-Trump types because he is widely seen as the true epitome of that Coward Shit, as a shivering servant too spineless to go all-in on a power grab, doomed or otherwise, and that cannot be sold to the current Republican base even if they turn rabidly against Trump for reasons unknown.
