I read that book and I think it's a load of crap. Some of what he says might be true in specific local regions but fail when applied generally. First of all he ignores the existence of many wild cat species throughout Eurasia and tropical America that fill similar niches as the house cat, but are better adapted to their specific environment. Also while dogs are likely to suffer extirpation in areas with similar native predators like temperate North America, the same can not be said for say, Australia, or South America. Although south america does have a native wolf it's behavior is more like that of a coyote, possibly leaving space for a large exhaustion pack hunter.

Basically he makes strong attention getting claims and ignores bumps and wrinkles in his pretty theories. Then again it was a simple fantasy largely designed to draw attention to our environmental impact so eh

I was netting bats in Costa Rica one night and a big fat white tomcat was meowing its head off just beyond our lights. Our instructor knew what was coming next, and warned us, but it was still pretty shocking when the meows turned into an awful screaming and then a strangled gurgle. Hard to say what got it, most likely just a coati but it could easily have been a jaguarundi or linx or even a puma.

ha yeah dogs go feral all the time. even domestic dogs with homes sometimes pack up and run down deer if people let them run, especially up north when the snow is right

hello everyone it's time to look at Bailey "Lil B 'The BasedGod'" Baileydog, the versace dog. she is my aunt and uncle's dog and i am watching her for the weekend. she is the sweetest happiest puppy. whenever someone she knows walks in the door she gets so excited that she starts whining and running around in circles. she doesn't walk anywhere, like some normal fake-based person might, instead she joyfully prances around. thank you based god for creating bailey the versace dog

man my family's dog is old and she's got the hip problems typical of labs that i mentioned before. well, bless her heart, she has to go down like 10 steps at this house when it's time for her to go out, and it's so hard on her. she'll go to the edge of the steps and just stand there. you have to help her along, like i said we put a towel under her as she walks to shoulder some of the weight. sometimes she hunkers down and refuses to go down. when she has to come back up she'll go up to the first step and stand there and then start dancing back and forth, lifting her legs and kind of walking in place, but not going onto the stairs, it's like she's mentally prepping to go up the stairs. anyway it's ssad, poor dog. but the amazing thing is then at night after my parents have gone upstairs to bed, she'll wake up and go to the stairs and getting up there is like 20 steps, twice as much as going out for a walk to Do Her business which she HAS to do, and this she doesnt have to do but totally voluntarily when everyone's asleep she'll struggle up those 20 steps to sleep upstairs next to mom and dad. swampman if you tell me dogs dont know how to love ill kill you.

]if it's that much trouble for her to go 10 steps out to pee why do you force her to struggle up 20 steps every night while you sleep instead of helping her with those too

dogs are dumb and should die young (like my dog did). cats are feral rodents best kept in alleyways or youtube videos.

the answer to that, comrade, is that we didn't know she was gonna go up there, for a few days in a row up here at this vacation place she didn't go up. she would hang around downstairs but she went up the last two nights in a row (the first of those nights my parents actually had their door closed because they didn't expect it ) and so today since she'd gone up the last two nights we DID help her up there. comrade
