i was originally thinking a yellow on red but that seemed maybe a little too on the nose? otoh i put red everywhere deliberately.

but yellow on red is actually kind of glaring to be honest, just from a colour design perspective, if you forget the symbology. i guess no one here does forget it though, and black and red are pretty historically signficant colours.

i feel like making it yellow and red suggests a kind of complete unity of purpose and agreement here that might not actually exist. surely there are people here that are a little more anarchist than marxist or a little more something else than marxist?

i don't know. i'm going to change it to a golden-yellow that i like for now. but it's worth discussing.

also now it's basically my custom post colours

edit: i'm looking at it with a paler yellow and i guess that looks ok too, probably better? i don't like that the yellows grab your eyes so immediately though. the point of something dark was that it meant that the first thing your eyes go to is the articles, which i think is the point of the front page, not the title.

thanks, i'm glad it's having a positive effect.

i'm personally gonna hold off on frontpaging anything that doesn't have overwhelming support / people bothering me to do it, because i don't want it to seem like i am treating it like my own personal thing that i have editorial control over.

the other people who can frontpage (cars and shriekingviolet) should frontpage whatever they like tho, they are actually selected mods, whereas i'm just some dude. instructions are here: http://www.rhizzone.net/forum/post/299074/ and also in PMs i've sent iirc, and i'll help anytime, just send a PM.

i would actually like to highlight some top posts, somewhere, but first i have to upgrade the forum code because i think that will give us useful registration stuff with the least amount of effort.

if the fonts aren't working on the front page, do a hard refresh (shift-ctrl-R or shift-cmd-R on the mac) and everything should be fine. i was using Adobe Typekit which requests the fonts from Adobe's servers in a way that doesn't let your browser cache them, but it turns out they were trivially, uh, divested from their corporate overlords, and now you don't get that split second where it's the wrong font.
