i am miserable because

i read angry islamophobe twitter last night

their logic is just as watertight as ours and draws as much from observed experience and they stand as much chance of winning

possibly someone in my enormous family is going to get beaten up or killed or something. i doubt i will be that moved as i dont talk to any of them and my parents dont leave the house much or look very muslim and i dont even think the EDL lumps can bring themselves to hurt a confused and untidy old man with a greying Afro tonsure (and that's just my mum!!!)

all this care is 100% self inflicted

there's nothing good on netflix

even my psychotic fugueposting is dreadful

hey, do you know where the name "inshan" comes from? i tried searching it online and only people from the caribbean show up. i wanna know what the original indian name is. it was my grandfather's name.

i can read arabic letters from a class i took a while ago, so i did some google translate trickery, translating to urdu and "انشان" came up, pronounced "ānshān," but that doesn't sound right.

edit: oh yeah, uhhh, sorry. it all certainly is bad...

i have been put in charge of organizing and leading a socialist reading group. it's sponsored by my org and the local SDS and it's going to be open to the general public. I am, with a lot of help from david harvey, going to attempt to teach normies Capital. We've got 35 peeople signed up, and i'm both really excited and really really really dreading this

yeah fwiw most of the good kids in the local SDS leadership have already put in their applications for membership with us so it's gradually becoming another front group... a front group that's 50% crusty anarchist spirit-fingerers

the anarchists are p much all shiftless future droputs anyway so i'm hoping after finals are over some of the worst offenders won't be back

i've tossed around getting involved in orgs, but after a meeting or two i decided they weren't for me. i checked back recently to give it another go, but i've found most of the orgs disbanded or meet infrequently. i enjoy chatting here, but a part of me would like to have friends irl

Had a conversation while packing groceries at work today with a self-described film director who told me that she was making a small-scale nature documentary, and apparently at one moment she is recorded as asking if Eurasian eagle-owls are really owls or just birds. Because she honestly did not know that owls are a subgroup of birds.

the story there is even weirder because he resigned from frso for undetermined reasons. also as i mentioned everyone ive talked to from frso has told me openly they wont be participating. or gave really noncommittal answers or obviously thought i was crazy for wanting to start a blog where we interview people and review old documents? i feel like i need my head examined or something.
