we let them watch the sopranos and the wire, we give them games like world of warcraft and call of duty, and then are surprised when they kill people.

yah I have, when standing at a military occupation checkpoint watching some teens push around a grandmother with the butts of their M16 rifles paid for with my tax money while a strong wind blows ... not when I was turned down for prom ...

sure but to be fair most teenage american boys don't have the privilege to be able to travel to exotic locations and so are forced to manufacture their own intrigue and drama.

i think its a positive that the media is emphasized the superficial normality of the murderer, opens up much more of a space to point out ideology than "he did it because he was a crazy kid" with a subtext of "he was a weirdo who should have known better than to ask and really that's the problem here" which was probably the alternative
#58
also is it just me or have comment sections everywhere gotten way worse in terms of right-wing victimhood tears in the last couple years? maybe it's just me, i don't know. but it seems worse than it used to be. could just be my perception, maybe. i don't know

bc it's worded ambiguously i feel compelled to point out that these are symptoms of depression and not causes anyways yeah get some vitamin D, take a supplement if you can't/don't get outdoors enough. even a slight deficiency in that can really exacerbate symptoms ime

so i looked it up by country and i guess there's a correlation with war and strife but there are weird outliers like the Netherlands too

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2013/11/07/a-stunning-map-of-depression-rates-around-the-world/

The least depressed is Japan, with a diagnosed rate of less than 2.5 percent.

and the 10th highest suicide rate in the world lol.

Maybe this is a fools errand and we should just look at it within America and the West where we can understand the cultural context a bit more.

Well I was half right since lack of parental involvement can include parents being chopped up by local crime lord.

what am i.. the depression expert????? i am prone to depression and i dont think that lying in bed all day or an unhealthy diet are remedies for depression, IN FACT i think depression can be managed with a healthy diet and exercise. sound body, sound mind. dont giv me examples of how health conscious u or someone might be n how they experienced depression anyway. u kno, like, thats to be expected.. life is NOT easy. the fudge u askig me this shid for.. actually u shud cos i kno depression like most of yall dont.. cut up depressed alone na mean

peace

i agree with much of this and i've seen lifestyle and diet changes have profound effects on friends and loved ones who've suffered from depression, what i don't quite understand is the reasons that somebody is diagnosed with the medical condition of Depression in the first place, and how that differs from just being sort of listless or pessimistic or alienated.
