Do you realize that your underlying premise here is that 1 way to enjoy life is to watch a Wesley anderson movie

reading the Koran is free and it's a much better use of time.

entertainment aimed at black people is shit, entertainment aimed at white people is shit, literally everything is shit except a couple dozen works produced between 1917 and 1945
#51
actually there are thousands of movies worth watching, many of them made by white and black people, sometimes they are both in a movie together
#52
movies move too fast for my puny brain to grind through the handful of intellectual perspectives that are a staple of the nonfunctioning left
#53
i like movies, especially asian martial arts

in first year university my housemate wanted to watch a movie and i was like oh let's watch rushmore, it's pretty cool. so i put in the video and me, her and her friend started watching it. and like after fifteen minutes of watching them twist their faces in confusion and disgust i said i'd turn it off and then remembered never to make friends again.

tree of life is probably one of the whitest movies ive seen in awhile, also made me disappointed that liberal sentimentality is always more popular w/ idiot movie critics than von trier movies which portray the Real

Von Trier announced that after finishing Melancholia he hopes to begin production of Nymphomaniac, a film about the sexual awakening of a woman. The director explained how he got the idea for the upcoming project: "my DP on [Melancholia], Manuel Claro, at one point voiced a surprising prejudice. He urged me not to fall into the trap that so many aging directors fall into – that the women get younger and younger and nuder and nuder. That's all I needed to hear. I most definitely intend for the women in my films to get younger and younger and nuder and nuder."

he'd probably only last one or two posts before getting banned from wddp, which is pretty high praise

art at the expense of women. history soldiers on.

actually its pretty interesting, almost always the people decrying films like antichrist to be misogynist are male critics. some female feminists otoh seem to enjoy it: http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2009/10/23/why_the_lars_von_trier_movie_antichrist_is_feminist.html

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/jul/16/antichrist-lars-von-trier-feminism

hes just blatantly un-PC w/ his jokes during interviews. i.e. when he got kicked out of cannes

ah the old "i'm only doing this as a subversive, wry commentary on the objectionable thing... uh, in america" excuse, where would an auteur under fire be without it
#77
the schlockiest and most exploitive movies, things like human centipede and hostel, at least at some point were offered up some kind of bold social critiques
#78
irreversible was superficially different but essentially indistinguishable from pornography
