feeling pretty good about my Bernie accelerationist theory. the idea that all these aspiring demsocs would have gone red if they hadn't been waylaid by Bernie and the DSA doesn't seem likely to me. probably, they would have gone to Warren or bought the CIA agent's Obama impression. instead, they've bought into a campaign that was on the cusp of victory but then crushed by an unprecedentedly coordinated effort carried out by a party that does not typically appear to be capable of tying its own shoes. a major component of that effort was to directly attack the character of Sanders' supporters.

can't say I expect this to result in any immediate surge of new organizing, but I think it did destroy the ambiguous-at-worst feelings that tens of millions of Americans, mostly young ones, had towards the Democratic party and, by implication, the American electoral process in general... and that ain't bad!

i dont get why this is your avenue of criticism? yeah, of course the person on executive ballot for the tiny socialist party in america will perpetually lose, winning in electoral politics is not the purpose or the strategy, and they're pretty clear and upfront that it's simply a method to garner outreach and publicity. there's probably quite a few folks who are independently marxist who come to learn of the PSL after seeing them on the ballot, because unless you happen to fall into niche left-wing irl organizing or a weird commie internet forum, looking at the ballot is an accessible mainstream avenue that would otherwise never happen for a party like the PSL.

hell, the small success of the california fascist party (not the GOP, the other one) is almost entirely due to the brilliant idea someone had to call themselves the American Independent Party to get a bunch of unsuspecting libs and moderates to sign up thinking it was the equivalent of registering as Non-partisan.

in the highly unlikely event that we ever have a legislature willing to pass what this country needs and a head-hitler-in-charge willing to sign that legislation, the supreme court is going to be a barrier regardless of whether it has biden appointees or trump appointees. that government will need to be willing and able to ignore, subvert, or otherwise overpower the court, or it will fail

When you look at the history of Supreme Court decisions, they aren't driven by the opinions of the individual members of the SC or by interpretation of law. The main driving force has been class conflict, class power, and the needs of us imperialism.

I don't enjoy running the blitz over and over on this... when this site's front page endorsed La Riva's ticket in 2016 my position was don't vote for United $nakke$ president, but La Riva's resume isn't exactly a secret, and this is probably the last place to expect no one to have read it. When a 65-year-old has spent her life defending workers, the indigenous nations of North America and Communist governments abroad, I think it's probably fine for her to do some skywriting for socialist politics over the grave of social fascist Bernard Sanders.

maybe i'm misunderstanding what you're saying here, but there have been some relatively big decisions that have been made mostly along party lines. labor disputes, voting, immigration, abortion, etc.
