Venezuela's government let a CIA front organization called the "Office of Transition Initiatives" operate in Caracas for nine years before finally shutting it down after a previous U.S.-backed coup attempt, even though they and everyone else knew it was an arm of a hostile government. Today, the government would be fully justified in putting a bullet in Guiado to save lives, and they still haven't done it.
If there were an equivalent to Guiado in the U.S., the White House would have had him shot by "special" thugs, then burned down the building with everyone else inside and claimed it was full of AKs, yellowcake and porn.
With some soldiers having reportedly been tricked into what they didn't know was a coup attempt, some people are now joking that Leopoldo Lopez (who has fled to the Chilean embassy) was also fooled and thought he was only going for a jog đ

John Bolton is a controlled boring Bush-era assembly-line-murderer version of the guy he replaced, the sort of person who sends Democrats to the fainting couch because he declines to get Paris and Brussels on board with the latest pogrom, and, I mean, making Franceâs government not want to participate in a pogrom takes some old-school effort. And thatâs the sort of dull establishment horse-trading thatâs come to dominate the Trump White House.
Most of those original-hire people got fired because they were unstable and new to Washington and liked to blab to the media about the White House. But I donât think Bolton really has much of a life outside of staying on message about murdering Persians and so on. Like I can imagine him thinking up rude versions of the names of second-string diplomats from Iran while he brushes his teeth before bed so heâll have some jokes for the briefing tomorrow.
SOLDIER #2: Haha yeah, crazy stuff. Well, we'd better shoot all our co-workers over the next week or so to avoid embarrassment.

before i came to the 'zzone to make a snippy and dismissive comment about it, i shared the footage on all 17 of my social media accounts along with words of condemnation from jake tapper and reddit user kushmaster10.

i followed to a link claiming to be "evidence" of a "split in the military" and it was army guys getting clowns out of the vehicles and arresting them. lol.

kushmaster10 is a highly dubious source on this topic fyi.
looks like the 'senior maduro officials' who promised to change sides may have been lying, prompting guiado's goons to make their move then stand around on a bridge like jackasses waiting for support that was never coming.

I would think Marco Rubio is lying but -- to my surprise -- he might actually not be all that he's cracked up to be, and at the time of this tweet had no idea what was going on. I hope he reveals the names of who was talking, so Caracas knows which ones weren't just stringing the coup plotters along on purpose.
Looks pretty clearly like Guaido and John Bolton were duped by Venezuelan Defense Minister @vladimirpadrino and paid an embarrassing price for it https://t.co/Gj5PgVLALC pic.twitter.com/ph3XrS4Lr1

This is like the most basic tinker-tailor double agent shit. I heard a saying apropos Guaido to "never arrest your enemy when they are made entirely out of mistakes."

so yeah this was done by guiado supporters to their own side to fool the press.
NEWS RELEASE: SOUTHCOM Commander Meets with Senior Leaders at the Pentagon to Discuss #Venezuela Crisis. @DeptofDefense @StateDept @WHAAsstSecty https://t.co/5WLzNsdNxT pic.twitter.com/M2kN5K5Onq

If you accept a recent Washington Post article, Bolton likes Craig Faller -- the U.S. imperial proconsul of South America, and is not a fan of the helmet-headed USAF Gen. Paul Selva, the vice chairman of the JCS, who is opposed to a military escalation and slammed his hand down on a table during a recent meeting because Bolton's staff were being pricks. His ring made a loud CRACK on the wood.
Don't know if that's true but he does have a big ass ring that I bet makes a good crack when you slam it into a table.
A bit of biography: Faller, the SOUTHCOM proconsul who Bolton likes, was plied with "expensive food and drinks while mingling with women in skimpy costumes and prostitutes" at a 2004 Christmas reception in Hong Kong put on by Leonard Glenn "Fat Leonard' Francis, a Malaysian playboy who bought up ports and gave admirals the hookup so they'd direct their ships into those ports for visits; U.S. Navy ships docking in your ports bring millions of dollars in logistics contracts.

He suggested that Maduroâs spy chief â who disappeared on Tuesday â had defected, though he would not elaborate. And despite Tuesdayâs call for a peaceful uprising, Maduro has not ordered GuaidĂłâs arrest.
Why?
Because Maduro, he insisted, âis scared.â
Up, he also insisted, "is down", water "is dry",
https://www.thedailybeast.com/venezuela-coup-was-a-russian-plot-behind-the-failed-uprising posted:According to a man we will call Alejandro, an organizing force within the opposition who has chosen not to affiliate with a specific party, the failed coup was actually a success, long term.
The original plan was for Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino LĂłpez and three other generals to negotiate with the U.S. to hand power over to GuaidĂł and have Maduro leave for Cuba, but at the last minute that operation went awry.
âGuaidĂł found out that they were going to arrest him and most of us think that he was simply set up,â Alejandro says. âThe generals, with Padrino in charge, were going to double cross him and send Leopoldo LĂłpez to Ramo Verde .â
So, Alejandro says, they go with a plan B; GuaidĂł and Leopoldo LĂłpez decide to advance quickly, counting on the FANB, the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela, to support them even without the treacherous generals.
Russia, seeing that its plan to have Padrino LĂłpez seize power and ensure stability for their investments is about to go awry, has Padrino stop Maduro from going to Cuba to avoid a power vacuum that could allow the opposition to succeed despite themselves and, with the tiles falling one after one and their supposed protector GuaidĂł risking imprisonment, the FANB back out of the deal and the coup comes to a halt.
...Alejandro, a man who at least on the surface is still invested in the beautiful narrative of a national uprising led by the people and their chosen champion, sees the failed coup as a blessing in disguise.
âThe reality is that if Plan A had not been aborted, today we would have a military dictatorship led by Padrino and in the service of Russia. The opposition wasnât shot down, it dodged a bullet,â he says.
