i only just noticed that the latest bile-flecked "leftist" screed against anti-imperialists was penned by leila al-shami, the person who co-authored "Burning Country" with robin yassin-kassab -- a man so hellbent on salafist supremacy in syria that he's lost the favor of least one notable fellow anarchist who used to promote his work



anyway, on a skim, al-shami's piece is just a recapitulation of the current anti-anti-imperialist arsenal: assad is both "genocidal" and "fascist," no elaboration given; leftists opposing invasion demonstrate "authoritarian tendencies" and also racism because uhhh; richard spencer, ann coulter, red-brown alliance; look at these numbers from SNHR; anti-imperialists don't have an authentic politics because it's just hydraulic opposition to US (an opinion so trailworn and hydraulically applied as to be completely worthless by its own standard)

that last point is funny because it's paired here with "they didn't complain when the US bombed Raqqa," which is one of those falsehoods that kinda takes the breath away. like, how can someone just blithely go around being that spectacularly wrong all the time, that shit would drive me nuts

she even entitled it "the 'anti-imperialism' of idiots" because, fuck it, you're just gonna be cribbing your whole piece from the cruise missile left anyway, may as well recycle titles, too

so i think the US blew up some iranian troops plus some syrians after they ventured east of the euphrates and took a couple towns from the sdf, and then israel blew up a bunch of iranian troops elsewhere just because, as a prelude to trying to blow up the iran agreement.

These attacks havent got much burn in the news at all because Trump didnt tweet about them but theyre both bad signs, and the fact that nobody cares is also a bad sign

Less than two months ago the State Department hosted members of the White Helmets at Foggy Bottom. At the time, the humanitarian group was showered with praise for saving lives in Syria.

"Our meetings in March were very positive. There were even remarks from senior officials about long-term commitments even into 2020. There were no suggestions whatsoever about stopping support," Raed Saleh, the group's leader, told CBS News.

Hezbollah has 10,000s of missiles ready in Lebanon that can effectively saturate Israeli air defenses if need be.

Also, not sure about Russia getting involved Swampman, Netanyahu was just in Moscow like yesterday I believe. They’re probably staying out of this fight.
