this focusses more on the music side of things, but he had a similar impact in political philosophy. the two main things i would credit him with popularizing on the internet were zizek and adam curtis. they both seem a bit banal to us now, because their main ideas have just been absorbed into the twitter hivemind, but back in 2004 they were very exciting. at that time, kpunk was really the main person pushing them and hosting the discourse. a large part of why adam curtis became globally popular is because kpunk&co actually recorded the documentaries off of british cable tv and hosted them on the internet before youtube existed. when zizek blew up in the late oughties he already had a lot of content out online because the kpunk-centered blogs had spent years sharing and discussing his writing.
by the time fisher finally wrote capitalist realism, the zizek-jameson angle seemed common to the point of being a cliche, but really he was largely a victim of his own influence. it seemed obvious because he had spent years popularizing the antecedents to his thesis

It is right-wing, but only because leftists were reluctant in naming our disease in the first place. Anyone calling out identity politics was immediately shut down, which surrendered critical leverage to the right-wing to address the socjus stuff in their own terms.
It's very hard to deny that the socjus phenomenon is a coherent constellation of ideas and attitudes. These people have a specific vocabulary, class composition (middle-class students/academics and burnouts), psychological profile (Cluster B disorders), method of organizing ("horizontalism") and (lack of) practice, which are all easily identified. Their politics are an excuse for damaged people to prey on each other, to engage in self-flagellation and find out who is the biggest victim through their identity charts. There is a platonic ideal of "SJW things" which identifies this subject beyond all doubt, it is not a "farce" or a phantasmagoria, the SJW has been subject of endless parodies and memes for a reason. If any of you is unlucky enough to still be involved in student politics or left-wing academia, you know the socjus takeover is undeniable and intractable.
The disintegration of the left is not their fault, of course, the SJW is just another symptom of our general disease, of how the left became a subculture esconced in academia, mired in cultural sub-politics and movementism, totally cut off from the labor movement and the real experience of workers. These people are not even "wrong" as such, they immerse themselves in this game of identities and locate their injustices in a maze of racial and sexual configurations because of the poverty of political education; they never had a chance in the first place. The language of class and any economics that isn't right-wing propaganda were stripped from leftism after the fall of communism, a whole apparatus of leftist political education was destroyed, most young people have no idea what even "unions" are. After all, who needs Marxism when you have intersectionality science?

this is what i mean by the critique of the critique. the tumblr teen discourse, when it is discoursed by literal teens on the literal website tumblr dot com, is extremely ineffectual and easy to mock. and to be honest there's nothing inherently wrong with that it's just kids talking among themselves about their own lives. but some of those kids grew up and got jobs in the media and academia without learning anything along the way, which aside from helping literally nobody just means they form a kind of reactionary yinyang complex with the aforementioned snivelling nazi nerds and its up to nice ppl like us to properly reject all that

A London university’s Diversity Officer may lose her job after allegedly tweeting with the hashtag #KillAllWhiteMen and referring to people as “white trash” on an official university Twitter account.
Bahar Mustafa, VP for Welfare and Diversity at Goldsmiths Student Union, is already embroiled in a race row after attempting to ban white men from a campus event.
She also claimed she is inherently unable to be racist because she is from an ethnic minority and is female.
