Interesting doc, I enjoyed learning more of the history of antifa in Paris.

One point that seemed relevant was about how skinheads where given lots of sensationalist attention in the media at the time in an apparent effort to consolidate political power against the FN, but only emboldened and spread the message. The same dynamic is taking place in the UK with regards to brexit.

Another point worth highlighting is how the antifa movement emerges as a necessary/inevitable response to protect their own safety and that of their community. It's frustrating that leftists I know are quick to criticise the violent tactics as thugish and characterise both as two sides of the same coin.

While the diverse antifa movement may sometimes be lacking in terms of theory/ideology, as evidenced in this doc many have not arrived at their position from reading books in university but from facing a very real fear of violence. It's hard to explain this to people who do not have a lived experience of what growing up in a neighbohood/culture like that entails, and would rather quibble over minor ideological points instead of creating the very necessary tactical alliances that would allow them to learn from eachother and grow.

there wound up being no organized klan presence. like 3-4 crackers off to one side taking turns looking real grouchy, but even they dispersed once it started moving. some rudeness from driversby but way more honks and cheers of support

the occasional stray vocal assholes left less of an impression than the many horrified bougie babies on main street staring slackjawed out of storefronts.

Same guy who founded the group involved in the stabbings founded the Youth for Western Civilization college group that created headlines 4 years ago for the affirmative action bake sale and the night patrols against black people on campus.

He also made headlines for assaulting a woman at a trump rally.
