they are all mentally ill, much like anyone cool enough to "get" fyad. allofthetrash took down his account recently too (taoctehwodnerdough) and he was the best of them. rip

so yea, I think the shrek stuff and its derivatives come from that desire to make sure people know you have an ironic distance in your approach to things. People want to show theyre using irony, but aren't able to actually create any humor using irony because their brains are too stupid, so they just pretend to be ironic in laughing at a character that was already intended to be funny in the first place - it started with shrek, but you see kids doing it with Hank and Bobby Hill, sometimes the Simpsons etc, especially on tumblr. Its telling that the jokes people make about these intentionally-funny characters are the intended jokes - that Hank is lame and out-of-touch with what's cool now, that Shrek is silly-looking, etc. A misappropriation of irony.
