A lot of people are making fun of the nerds saying that the new round of student loan forgiveness in United $naKKKe$ will undermine military recruitment, as recruiters’ main selling point nowadays is to offer to pay for college for a group of people, U.S. volunteer military, who are much less likely to graduate, even with a free ride to a four-year university. And that’s funny and good, because it’s funny and good to have people stumbling into publicly admitting the imperialist war machine thrives on domestic debt peonage.

But what I can’t help but think is, all the annoyed capitalists and Ivy-League think-tankers and ultra-reactionary politicians making that point know exactly how to support their embarrassing argument, how to punish what’s just happened and how to discipline history away from debt forgiveness in the future: they just need to start so many foreign wars at once that the draft gets reinstated, then blame $10,000 each in partial, limited debt forgiveness for it.
