Gothamist frequently reported on police brutality and NYC government corruption. Particularly, they have noticed that De Blasio is like, openly incredibly corrupt, and DA Cy Vance is also incredibly corrupt and just slightly better at hiding it, and both of them suck cop dick like it was the prescription for cancer of the money. They would report a lot about the ridiculous treatment of cyclists and especially immigrant delivery workers in NYC. Their last long form article was about slave labor at Riker's.

Joe Ricketts bought the paper like a year ago, he's a Trump bro, everyone assumed he would slowly choke the life out of it. Instead, after Gothamist staff voted to unionize he immediately deletes the site and all its archives. He put up a notice saying the site is not profitable which is, in fact, a lie (DNAinfo, another related property of Ricketts', is not profitable but Gothamist was). So this is basically a fascist attack on local journalism and it is incredibly fucked up and bad. The end.

deblasio sucks but it's been funny how the Post started hating on him at 10/10 ferocity from the moment of his election and has never stopped to take a breath, no matter the nature of the claim
