There's no reason to watch any before 5
#82
Wait is it 4 that has the runway chase that takes 8 hours? That one's good too
#83
they're all fun to watch, they all have enough good shit to make it worthwhile
#84
gather up some friends, get booze and make the wickedest nachos & other snacks you can, and just make a day out of marathoning the whole series. pause to order in "proper" food every three or so films

i can personally attest to the success of this method

The early ones are a lot different & it's the post quasi-reboot ones where they go from being street racers to the GI Joes that people like.
#86
the ramping absurdity of them going from street racers to gi joe is a big part of what makes the latter ones great and that would be lost if you don't have the earlier films as a point of comparison imo.
#87
especially the decline in participation by key cast members across 1-3 and then the swing in 4 and after to everyone coming back whether or not it made sense and the series acquiring more and more big stars, it's like a miniature history of the changing way Hollywood treated long-running action series.

I still haven't seen fate yet might catch it this weekend but I'm pretty sure Chev Chelios is a good guy in this one after
1. Killing their wise Asian mentor
2. Literally blowing up an entire hospital
3. A bunch of other good stuff too.
#89
or you can just watch tokyo drift without watching any of the others.
#90
2 isn't one of the best but it also has a fair amount of g.i. joe shit in it.

Watch crank and then watch crank 2, you'll hate them.

bad boys II is the better rendition of 2 fast 2 furious
#94
Furious 8 heroes have lovely smiles

Alright I finally saw fate of the furious. Here are my thoughts. Mild spoilers.

1. I think it was a mistake to bring Statham back. Him and rock are so much better than everyone else in this movie it feels damaging to the franchise to me.
2. Seriously these movies are career graveyards. Do any of the "family" members even do movies other than these at this point? Even vin barely works outside of them and XXXX 2 just bombed insanely hard so I doubt he's going to be saying anything other than "I am Groot" anytime soon. I havent seen Paul Walker in anything for a while now.
3. I feel like this entire franchise is stuck between a rock and a hard place... they're complete nonsense but they lack the true bombast of superhero films, yet on the other hand all the car racing, the more grounded action of the series, feels anemic and poorly shot after fury road.
4. They should just do a spin off with Statham and Rock. I don't know if they have chemistry exactly but they're both interesting to watch and the only truly great parts of the film are the prison sequence & the baby rescue. You could probably even make a semi-coherent plot if you didn't have nine main characters.
5. Seriously the prison break is so great. Statham running through the place at top speed with that energy we know and love while The Rock just strolls through everything. This would be a really good movie.
6. Dom sucks so bad lol nice tear Vin.

Vin Degal changes into a special movie monster outfit to saw open the ambassadors car, and here I dont refer to his saw and mask: he is wearing a jacket and jeans, is wearing some sort of full body neoprene suit with shotgun shells for a shotgun he does not have, then is back in his jacket and jeans in the next scene, which takes place like... nineteen seconds later.

It's f*cked up that nobody seemed to mention or express any concern about Jason statham murdering Han
#98
They retcon him into being a good guy by 1. claiming all his previous to 7 crimes were secret government black ops (??) and 2. saying the bad guy of this movie was behind him being bad but like he still literally killed an entire hospital lol
