I think it's a matter of shifting perspectives that largely happen at the roll of a die, totally unpredictable and out of control. The perspective shift is going from waiting for a more distorted form of Rapture to taking the science seriously. the accelerationist argument is that the shift will never happen, therefore the only other option is multiplied in intensity like any good scifi. The reality would probably be somewhere in between. Seeing as the ruling class is devoid of emotion, they would react to climate disasters in largely the same way as a class war. What hope is left is that the first truly major instances of climate change in the first world would force the lower classes to organize under new banners. Only when we see the water fucking shit up to the point where people are completely detached from the rest of capsociety will we maybe vaguely hear of a new social dynamic taking root in what is most logical to those people at the time. Probably most instances of this in america would amount to no more than a Lord of the Flies scenario. And that's why accelerationists around here are so haughty about it, a truly perverted sense of entitlement. Though that's really only the crust of the iceberg, it's the west coast lightworker channel orb beings that are a truly interesting ideology to take root in a mind freshly fertilized with neoliberal New Atlantis bullshit. Either way they want the bird to burn, for some reason
