Hung jury on Baltimore police shooting case, 8-4 not guilty after 19 hour deliberation. Prosecution set to set a new court date thursday. Judge declared a mistrial as well, but court reporters in this country are so bad I can't find the reasoning. Protests ongoing.

Is the hung jury not the reason for the mistrial?

I was watching cnn at lunch and it went from this to Bush: Donald Trump could become "Chaos President" which is probably the bigger deal... We've known about the Chaos President prophecy for 100 years but never thought it was real...
#4
it's really boring. a Hung Jury in the Grey case. ZzzZZ
#5
donald trump is totally gonna be the Chaos President and the whole time he's just like "what do i say?"

#6
at least george bush had some charm. trump is the most emptyiest of suits

there is a major beef between the bush family (-minus GW) and the people who support Trump. this was posted recently

the Bushes don't have nearly the Ideological Resources that the Trumps have

how long you think Trump will be president before the world disintegrates>

he'll do fine. he successfully runs a real estate empire, and all the technocrats who make the important economic and foreign policy decisions will retain their positions regardless of who is president.
#25
who cares about the technocrats so to speak. i'm talkin about the proletariat

juries are fascinating creatures though, and basically validate tpaine's views on humanity.

an anecdote: my colleague had a trial where client was accused of violating a restraining order. the RO said that he couldnt go within 100 yards of the place where the protected party worked. there was uncontroverted testimony that he was spotted across the street from there, which was about 150 feet away. jury found him not guilty, and when the lawyer asked them why afterward, they said that obviously 150 feet is more than 100 yards

however, i work in a town which has a history of corruption, so its possible that your average juror here (accurately) believes that police officers are all untrustworthy liars and have a healthy skepticism when it comes to prosecutors as well

yes every time we have a more ineffectual president (and each one is more) it just highlights how the position is a meaningless figurehead who does what he's told is Necessary and power is actually maintained and exercised by people we don't see. which of course everyone knows here at The Rhizzone, but it becomes more obvious to everyone else over time too. hoorawy. so Trump is a good thing. anything that might stir up real anger is good. accelerationism is correct

#33
i think it highlights how unnecessary a president is
#34
maybe a small group of sysadmins, sure, but a president? lol

i've only been called for jury duty once (kent, wa). during our lunch hour i was walking through that fine city looking for a place to eat when i was pulled over by two undercover cops because I vaguely looked like a fugitive of latin descent. i lasted maybe a minute in voir dire before they removed me first (from a trial of someone that was of latin descent). if you read this far into my story you have been visited by the corpse of jury nullification and are thus cursed to jury duty.

I will probably never make it on a jury in my lifetime unless it's some stupid boring petty civil trial

During jury selection in my first trial I basically called out the da for being racist because all the potential jurors she kicked had Hispanic names and she flipped the fuck out. Judge denied my challenge though
