“If Europe leaves us in the crisis, we will flood it with migrants, and it will be even worse for Berlin if in that wave of millions of economic migrants there will be some jihadists of the Islamic State too."

"Panousis has backed his allegations by presenting recordings of a terrorist inside his cell talking with SYRIZA member and justice ministry advisor Panagiots Lambrou with the latter promising that a new bill will have certain terrorists released while there will be better jail conditions for all incarcerated. The recordings were made by a bug placed in the terrorist’s cell by the National Intelligence Service (EYP).
The former minister also submitted evidence to Supreme Court Prosecutor Efterpi Koutzamani regarding death threats he received while serving in cabinet.
Minister of Justice Nikos Paraskevopoulos and Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas visited the prosecutor to verify the authenticity of the documents submitted and the media’s right to publicize the government members’ alleged links to jailed members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire terrorist group. The two ministers took legal action against persons unknown for leaking state documents."

The country's stake in the National Bank of Greece dropped to 24 percent from 57 percent, and in Eurobank it fell to 2.4 percent from 35 percent, while its stake in Alpha Bank was reduced to 11 percent from 64 percent and in Piraeus Bank it dropped to 22 percent from 67 percent. This translates to a loss of almost $44 billion that Greek taxpayers gave to bail out the banks over the past three years.
Greek stock market and legal experts believe that the maneuvers were engineered after a statutory legal provision was amended by the Greek Parliament that allowed private investors to price bank shares using a so-called "book-building method." Under this method, the share price in capital increases is not predetermined, and investors set the price at which they want to buy the shares.
It also made it mandatory for the country's regulatory body, the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund, to accept book-building prices, even if they were not properly reflecting share values.
EU and IMF made Greece pass a law that is mandatory to accept unquestioningly for state owned assets the price which any private capitalist wishes to pay for them.

this is cool. also relatedly (to me anyway), recently government bonds in most major Western economies have begun to be valued less than corporate bonds which essentially translates to the moneyed classes now feel that giving your money to a corporation for long term keeping is more secure and more apt to last than giving your money to a state.
as far as I have read this is the first time this has ever happened in the history of bonds. it is timed perfectly with the other signs of the diminishing of nationstate/democratic/publicly exercised power vs corporate/secret/private power
The state apparatus won't be perverted into a capitalist horror show it will just be defunded out of relevance and slowly choke to death by successive Austerity and Conservative governments and shit like this financial movement and by next crisis it will be the banks deciding which governments will fail instead of the other way around
this almost seems too obvious to post. everything is so fucked lol

http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/nov/27/disaster-capitalism-antony-loewenstein-review
Antony Loewenstein quotes the managing director of one of the many private military companies (“PMCs”) working in Afghanistan. The United States, says “Jack”, “is not capable of running empires”. Instead, western governments outsource imperialism to people like him in a variety of organisations – Halliburton, G4S, Serco and Capita are the best known of a long list – which make their money from incarceration, the “processing” of asylum seekers or the provision of private “security” in conflict zones.
At a nightclub full of PMC staff in Afghanistan, Loewenstein is “reminded of a comment made by a human rights advocate in Kabul, that if you go to a party in the city, ‘a quarter of the men will have no necks’”, a consequence of widespread steroid use.
We definitely live in interesting times

it's mega amazing cool how capitalist incentivization works. you pay for terrorist informants and you get terrorists. you pay for refugee processing you get refugees. you pay for jails you get criminals. it's just an endless barrel of fun

The "Nash Equilibrium", a fictional political thriller loosely based on Greece's deadly November 17 guerrilla group, is seen through the prism of a militant.
"It made headlines when it was called off in late January after two weeks of performance on the National Theatre's experimental stage. It followed protests by relatives of victims and by conservative lawmakers.
But demonstrations by actors and free-speech supporters outside the theater in central Athens led to one final performance on Sunday night."
