http://www.avclub.com/article/xs-exene-cervenka-believes-santa-barbara-shooting--205164

Although it’s often lumped in with many of California’s first-wave punk bands, X always side-stepped many of the genre’s early tropes, focusing less on the reactive, “question authority” ethos and instead serving as an updated take on rock ‘n’ roll classics. Yet, it appears that all that exposure to punk’s radicalism seeped into X’s vocalist Exene Cervenka, who has recently been firing off tweet-after-tweet claiming that the recent shooting in Santa Barbara was all an elaborate hoax that would force stricter gun control laws on the public. Cervenka’s firsthand commentary has been slight, as she’s largely reposted Youtube videos from other conspiracy theorists who attempt to prove that Rodgers was an actor likely hired by the government to push its agenda. Scrolling further back into Cervenka’s Twitter feed shows that her stance as a conspiracy theorist and truther has been bubbling for a while, the pinnacle of which was reached when she re-posted a video titled “Illuminati Finger Puppets,” which exposes the truth of government cover-ups in the way it so often does, through close-up photos of Bill Clinton and Miley Cyrus.

I'm pretty sure Rodger's weird ideas had a lot more to do with his own fucked-up, retarded brain than the specter of 15th century aristocracy.
#181
nice historical materialist analysis u got there
#182
Historical materialism means that historical change is driven by conflict between the forces of production and the relations of production, not something idiotic and clearly false like "every event is caused by History and the actors involved are just its conduit", and for that matter it's not supposed to apply to individual persons anyway.

"Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past. D'oh! I like straggling my son Bart. What are you waiting for? Follow me for a donut."

Your fukkin stupid, "mate", that's actually one of the more voluntaristic statements in Marx and is also just trivially true. I have no idea how you go from "history influences current events" to "Elliot Rodgers was under the thrall of 15th century aristocracy even though he didn't know anything about it and just watched Game of Thrones".
