hello friends. i want to read more print stuff. recommend me stuff. try not to post jokes in this thread because that's really inappropriate and gross.

i had a student subscription to NLR back in the day but i umm never could get myself to sit down and read it. in fact it's quite possible that will happen with any other magazine i subscribe to. but live and learn.

NSFWCORP is good 'cause john dolan does fun takedowns on bad poets and wars while ames/levin talk about THings That Happen while cowart informs you on wasps and dicks interchanabely

for example: here is dolan's hard-boy & true-boy takedown of orwell http://exiledonline.com/big-brothers-george-orwell-and-christopher-hitchens-exposed/

and here is a simpering trot defense mounted by the rag jacobin: http://jacobinmag.com/2013/10/reclaiming-comrade-orwell/

actually was that new grabber book any good
#11
someone said they subscribed to nsfwcorp and it was like really cheaply made and thin. which i guess i can excuse for a trot paper.
#12
nsfwcorp will cure you of any residual respect you had for the exile
#13
its insultingly thin. the trader joes mass mailer I get is more substantial.
#14
they want US$84 a year for it too

It’s true that in the mid-1930s huge chunks of the Continental intelligentsia chose sides among Stalin, Hitler and the Pope; but even in more factionalized worlds like France, there were many independent writers doing very well. Celine, a real loner, with more mad courage than a reactionary like Orwell could even imagine, became famous at the very worst phase of Leftist hegemony in the Parisian scene without following any party’s line.

lmao does the fucktard who wrote this even know who Celine is? "hmm what's a good example of an independent mind who didn't choose sides, oh I know maybe the most famously pro-Hitler fascist author of the French avant-garde yeah that guy wasn't a reactionary at all" this article suuuucks and i don't even like Orwell that much

Jacobin magazine can be pretty good at some times, be warned that Khamsek's mortal enemies regularly contribute to it.

Mad became irrelevant once they accepted ads and switched to color, also the death of Antonio Prohías didn't help either.

yeah, nsfw had 1 x,000 word article, another slightly smaller one, two center pages of cartoons that my kid drew, and was made of low quality newsprint. their podcasts suck too, that editor doesn't know what he's doing, they're built entirely on donations pretty much and i think the major big wig donors all pay for staff health care.

jacobin is higher quality, looks cooler on my shelf however their editor is a knicks fan lol sports

the last issue of mad magazine made fun of homeland and had i think 2 different flash back cartoons (where they shittily reprinted something from the 80s as filler) but hell,
what me worry?

my new yorker is the most expensive and it comes every two weeks, is better written, but i think 2 issues ago had a page written by amy poehler from snl and she wrote about her shitty job at the ice cream store, kinda like that ashton kutcher 'hard work pays off' with a 'i kinda got into show business through the store's birthday celebrations for customers' concluding with how she threw pennies at the dumpster after work with the rest of the store's gang. i was kinda into it until the stupid i don't know what a penny is worth part. it is the new yorker though what did i expect?
