My employer recently relabeled our bottom-tier positions "internships" because of all the morons we'd call offering jobs who'd go "ummm yeah but I'm just looking for an internship though??"

i was accepted for a job placement program thing for people with disabilities and it is almost certain that i will be paid $10.25/hour, and the only reason they'll pay me that is because they are heavily subsidized to do so. at least it'll pay my rent.
#8
I make $13.80. luchini.

i wish i could be rolling in the big 'disability' bucks as well but unlike canada where parasites thrive, in america we teach our disabled that their "disabilities" are merely psychosomatic, elucidated by pitting them against one another in gladiatorial combat for healthcare. the ones who end up making it through their trials, realize they were never even disabled in the first place and have no need for social welfare; it's a fantastic system.

Apparently they are also accepting pizzas... and if you're NYPD you get a free look (one onlooker wrote: "NYPD rolled up wanting to take photos so they uncovered it.").

both of them pay more than any internship I ever had, whether compulsory $5 a day work programme for young teen students in Victoria, to $0 pay for government office positions.

Can prison labor be considered internship as they are essentially being given access to tools and knowledge in order to utilize those abilities to gain employment in the future?

we get weekend penalty rates here (new lib governments trying to stop it) and i'm doing some drudging data entry temp work next weekend filling out spreadsheets so i should be making about 38/45 n hour

it sucks tho cuz unlike my delivery job i have to declare it probably and might get less welfare money or rent assistance from the government

#34
i'm not trying to gloat i actually feel really bad for the fact my american rhizzone pals seem to get such insanely low wages

haha you get welfare at 35/hr as a single person with no dependents? here you'd need to be making less than minimum wage + have reduced hours

#37

discipline posted:

why do we even use the word intern anymore

the word "intern" is rapidly becoming a slur and any "decent internship" (lol) now describes itself using alternative language, which owns
