I think we're meant to read 'less privileged' as the group we would find a hate crime against funnier.

as you can see, its much harder jerking off onto stuffed animals than it is to be gay.

This kind of attitude right here demonstrates the torment plushies are subjected to on a daily basis!!!

I really had to think on some of these. How exactly do you define privilege? Is it inborn advantages, the ability to improve your situation, social acceptance, or is it just kinda how much slack the society as a whole is willing to cut you?

The first few were easy. White vs. Mixed Race? It's a no-brainer.

Then it was Zoophilia vs. Object Sexuality. Both outside of societal norms, but I figured Zoophilia's a lot more likely to get you arrested.

I voted Gay over Plushie, and was surprised that Plushies were leading, but upon reflection I suppose that gays gained a lot more agency in recent years and are much more accepted than someone who openly confesses a sexual attraction to stuffed animals.

I was actually surprised that bisexuals are slightly behind lesbians at the moment. Besides heterosexual male fantasies of a bisexual girlfriend being more open to an MFF threesome, what advantages do they have over lesbians? Sure, they can date people of the opposite sex and thus blend in with heteronormative society, but I assume we're talking about openly and unabashedly bisexual people. The don't get any slack from religious fundies, especially male bisexuals, and a lot of people in the gay community dismiss them as either just experimenting, or that they're really gay and are just deluding themselves.

Sikhs definitely have less privilege than Buddhists, if only because so many stupid people confuse them for Muslims.

Not a lot of sympathy for fat people, especially from steroid users. And ugly people don't catch many breaks.

There must be a lot of male-privilege deniers voting, if nearly 30% think cis males have less privilege than intersex people.

I had to look up hijira, but I figured it was a pretty safe bet.

AIDS/Cancer victim Vs. Deaf was another one I had trouble with, because it depends on how you define privilege. A lot of people associate AIDS with homosexuality, promiscuity, and drug use, and think they're just reaping what they've sown, along with 2-pack-a-day smokers who get lung cancer. But on the other hand, there are a lot more charities and benefits held to cure AIDS and cancer and to help those who suffer from it than for deafness. Deaf people are just sort of expected to adapt to the hearing world.

Kinda the same thing with birth defect sufferers vs. addicts. People have a lot more sympathy for the plight of people with birth defects than people who suffer from alcoholism or drug addiction. But then they also tend to be a lot less comfortable with people with birth defects, while addicts are like "normal" people when they aren't using.

I would have thought more people would say people who suffer from eating disorders have less privilege, since our society tends to encourage them to get eating disorders in the first place. And like other addictions and disorders, people tend to treat them as weakness or lack of willpower. No one accuses a guy in a wheelchair of lacking the willpower to walk. They're held as courageous for getting along in the world in spite of their disability. Christopher Reeve with paralysis is a hero. Christopher Reeve with bulimia is just another tale of the trials and tribulations of Hollywood stardom.

I expected people with Nut Allergies to have more privilege. I mean, they don't pass out peanuts on airline flights if there's a passenger with a peanut allergy because the peanut dust in the air can cause them to react. They have to work around them because accidentally ingesting a peanut product can kill these people. Would they do the same for hay fever, even if it was really bad? No. They'd be like "Just take some Benadryl, pussy."

I voted for gluten allergy because it's a lot easier to avoid being around pets than it is to find a restaurant with a decent gluten-free menu.

And latex allergy, because people think you just don't want to wear a rubber.

Anyway, a lot of this depends on your interpretation of privilege. And personal experience and background. Full disclosure: White heterosexual male agnostic, so I'm sure that's colored my reasoning a bit. I welcome any counterpoints to my reasoning, just please keep it civil.

What used to be known as not being able to eat unlimited amounts of pizza and cookies, is now a medical condition called gluten sensitivity.

I know this was probably meant in a body image/dieting context, but I’d like to also bring it into a disability context.

If you don’t have enough spoons for proper food and end up eating pizza for a week because they deliver, that’s OK. If you can’t even get to the door and end up just eating chips because they’re near the bed, that’s OK too. Food is food, and the most important thing is to keep your body going. Do what you need to do.

is it still a hate crime if the motive is profound love for the immortal soul of a sinner

omfg the lesbian/bi one is neck and neck. how??
there are people in the gay community who still say bi doesn't exist . :<

As a lesbian, I was actually surprised that bi got so many votes. I consider someone who has heterosexual relationships, and enjoys all of the privileges that come with them, more privileged than lesbians. While some bi women are in long-term same-sex relationships and get all the same shit that I do, I think on that on average, bisexual women have it easier. They can date men, they often do, and they get all of the acceptance and legal benefits that goes with that — I don't think "some people in the gay community don't think bi exists" really balances that out.

Voted for bi because people outside the gay community aren't certain it exists either. Also, I figure people can wrap their heads around boys liking boys and girls liking girls, but introduce the nuance of fluid sexuality and people just shut down.

Could we be heading toward a Trans M->F vs. Fat final?

If Fat can beat Amputee it's gonna trounce small fries like "Homeless" and "Vegetative State."

Depends on the amputation. Below the knee, one leg? Prostheses are very good now, and rehabilitation for that particular injury is fairly straight forward. I have personally known soldiers who stayed in the Army and went back into combat with that injury.

Above the knee would suck. Both legs would suck. Losing either arm would suck. And the people who lose three or more limbs? God bless them- they are living one of my worst nightmares.

I maybe put a little too much thought into this one on my last deployment...

-------------

For SwedenUJane, you ignorant slut. (Adah)51L
Imagine that you had lost your leg, even below the knee, on deployment. While in Walter Reid, a doctor tells you about an experimental procedure that makes your leg grow back, but you gain 200 to 300 lbs as a side effect. This weight isn't permanent.

How would you, or anyone, say, "Sorry Doc, I'd rather not have my leg than be fat."?

-------------

I probably would keep that amputation. You get pretty good mobility with a good prosthesis. Better mobility than I would have with another 200-300 pounds.

The way I see it the whole spiel here is: Who has it tougher? Amputees are treated much nicer than overweight people. It's been a really long time since I've seen someone making fun of amputees.
It's not "Would you rather,...?". It who has less privilege in society.
#25
i consider fatness to be a privilege and an honor

in that case, illuminati slutwave teen pop princesses have the least privilege of all. gg chunkstumps. Leave Britony a lone

These people think having less privilege just means being socially unpopular and that it has nothing to do with the hardships one faces in life, one's advantages or disadvantages, &c.

its cool that tumblr leftists have decided to include fats in their whole oppression angle because they've never actually talked to a fat person. here's a tip: the chances that someone holds political beliefs about gays that wouldn't get one denounced as a "shitlord" decreases by 1% per pound above 200

36% of americans are obese. the average human skeleton weighs about 25 pounds. the average american height is roughly 5'7. you need to weigh 194+ pounds to be obese at 5'7. for round numbers, let's assume the average obese weight is 225. so that's 200 pounds of meat per person times 310 million times 36 percent, or 22.3 billion pounds of high-protein, high-energy meat we could be distributing to the third world. even taking losses from blood weight and brains, we're till looking at eight hundred megaatons of meat we could be giving out, ending hunger at a stroke and normalizing the world's weight.

Third World consumers will demand free range Americans, and a lot of that meat will go to waste.
