the best part of that ad is one of the dudes pretending to be a bluecollar mechanic is a multimillionaire who makes his money doing astroturf campaigns and making these ads

and in the video hes still obviously wearing an expensive dress shirt + pricey watch
#48
lol i didnt read this thread after i made it but i knew that this would become a contest to see who cared less about the super bowl. us nerd 'leftists' are so predictable.
#49
i care that the patriots lost. thats all i cared about. i cared about when that giants receiver d id a bow. that was kool. I cared about that
#50
superbowls are definitely fixed, its about entertainment and stagecraft, people that really
"care"
about the billion-dollar superbowl
"care"
about theatre

as they should.
#51
why would you think they're fixed lol

MIA is so allluring, I wonder if soon all women will retain their charm into their late 30s like she has. Nicki Minaj is always outshined when there are people of human height and with some substance around her. It makes me sad cause she's such a cute character, but that's allll.

the superbowl stinks because it makes an already incredibly boring football game into the same thing but with one or one and a half more hours of commercials. but its fun if you're emotionally invested in one of the teams

let's lobby to have basketball become americas national sport. although we'll need to put masks and flesh colored tights on the black players so racist people who will surely tell you that NBA stands for n igger ballet can enjoy it.

I would advocate for MMA but american mma has become this awful amateur wrestling against a fence thing. It's so bad. Pride/DREAM japanese mma is so much more fun, cause it has its roots in kickboxing and pro wresu, and it's in a nice big ring, so the guys can move and strike, and you can't be pinned against a fence , if something goes over the ropes the reset them in the middle, it's just more exciting. If you want to kill 2 or 3 hours download al the pride hardcore knockout dvds, there are 3 of them. The first one is filled with crocop knocking people out with kicks to the head. It also has a japanese guy wearing pink tights that say DIET BUTCHER.

Everyone knows that the NBA is the only consistently rigged american mainstream team sport

European football is rigged a lot and tennis matches are rigged pretty regularly

if you trace the origins it's clearly not intentional but i think you can see a lot of shared characteristics between football and say, phalanx battles, by way of convergent evolution *lights the gumblesignal*

the ball represents initiative

lmao actors literally dont have a soul, yet youd think theyd still realize that playing a racist stereotype in a political ad isnt going to be their big break

Hmmm let'[s see..

a multi-billion dollar private sporting event, that cost advertisers more than $100,000 per second of ad time, populated by teams that frequently represent billionaire's vanity and prestige, showcasing extremely profitable brands and massive Spectacle potential... in a time of corruption at all levels of society, widespread cynicism, and control over people's perceptions to a degree never before experienced.. maybe, just maybe, there is some manipulation afoot. Hrmm. Lol why would yo uthink that.

MIA is cool. Also I watched the voice after and wow what a piece of shit. Those are my thoughts on superbowl sunday

i missed the halftime show. was it like this, cool if so, fucked u p if tru:

MIA flicked off america as a solidarity statement with the Tamil Tigers and terrorists everywhere. At least thats how I imagined it. Also Madonna looked good for being old as hell and none of them were singing. Altogether it was OK, other highlight was LMFAO and Madonna shuffling, which should be enough for the next few superbowls to have only artists in their 60s and up.

i was really surprised when i first saw it, because this french asshole made a video like i would've shot it, (esp. that horse) but he made it simply decadent and not abrasive and confrontational . too safe. i think it still works in a cognitively dissonant way, which i guess is how MIA functions anyway (or for that matter most of 'trailblazing' politically-aesthetic pop, like michael jackson's HIStory:

Issue-politics, partial refusal and piecemeal demands are the very thing that blocks transcendence. The worst inhumanity is never anything but a wish for emancipation that has settled for compromise and fossilized beneath the strata of successive sacrifices. Liberalism, socialism and Bolshevism have each built new prisons under the sign of liberty. The left fights for an increase in comfort within alienation, skillfully furthering this impoverished aim by evoking the barricades, the red flag and the finest revolutionary moments of the past. In this way once-radical impulses are doubly betrayed, twice renounced: first they are ossified, then dug up and used as a carrot. "Revolution" is doing pretty well everywhere: worker-priests, priest-junkies, communist generals, red potentates, trade unionists on the board of directors.... Radical chic harmonizes perfectly with a society that can sell Watney's Red Barrel beer under the slogan "The Red Revolution is Coming." Not that all this is without risk for the system. The endless caricaturing of the most deeply felt revolutionary desires can produce a backlash in the shape of a resurgence of such feelings, purified in reaction to their universal prostitution. There is no such thing as lost allusions.
