definitely read flannery o'conner, she's fantastic. kind of like faulkner and kafkfa. everything that rises must converge is p. good but really bf is right and her short stories are best.

Imagine how much better this would have gone for Ellis if he'd written a proper critique.

Any time someone calls anything "pretentious" I roll my eyes. It's a symptom of incuriosity. It's an insult aimed at art itself.
