it might somewhat defeat my argument considering its one the best selling jazz records, but coltrane's a love supreme would be touching on it (moreso w/ meditations and ascension), pretty much free and modal jazz in general from folks like ornette coleman & eric dolphy (who is a bit more conventional), etc.

also the more experimental hard bop/post-bop songs, thinking here of charles mingus and thelonious monk specifically, would also apply imo
