>impper licks the tip of a felt tip pen, pensively shifting his gaze to the serene night-sky outside Starbucks' window. He soaks in a brief moment of calm before the ensuing storm. Suddenly, his attention is refocused back inside the room, the present--reality; he nervously and hastily fumbles through his old notepad, repositioning his seating by awkwardly crossing his right leg over the top of his left using his arms in an overtly strained manner.

"Erm. Ehh, uhh, are--are you ready?" impper sheepishly mutters, eyes affixed to the cashmere carpeting, hoping to avert accidental eye contact.

Animedad effortlessly glides past in a sheer nightgown, the tip of which brushes against impper's calf, sending shivers up impper's spine as though a million cilia had been individually electrocuted in tandem. Animedad twirls on his heels, facing away from impper, before giving pause and disrobing to reveal the vulnerable soft, pink, and supple flesh underneath the protective undergarment. "Paint me like one of your French girls, Johny iMppad" Animedad softly whispers from the side of his mouth before resuming his previous trajectory and scaling a Victorian era wooden love seat. With his back now arched nearly to the breaking, he wildly whips his long flowing hair counterclockwise in seemingly slow motion, until his eyes cross path with impper's--and here, with the most soul piercing, suggestive gaze, and body language, animedad gives answer to previous question: "Yes, I'm ready for my portrait."

It all comes down to this; The culmination of existence, transfixed within a suspension of memories and thoughts, both born of past and of future. Their meaning given weight by this one transitory moment - But do I know enough Tool and Smashing Pumpkins lyrics to pull off the greatest literary work of my life?

im 14 and i have my own allowance and smoke cigarettes and read books about marxism. im more mature than 90% of adults i think

#665
most teens my age like kei$ha, adele, harry potter, skyrim, and going to the mall ..... well i like kachaturian, adorno, herman hesse, schizoanalysis, and smashing capital. im so much more grown up than them and yet i'm still the one who gets bullied at school and no girls want to talk to me. makes you think about how broken our society is
#666
rougeken, what'er your thoughts on adorno's aesthetic theory

i read something that drew a lot from it/adorno so i kind of want to read the book, but i can't find a download at the moment
#667
tell me some BAdAss words to read on aesthetics
#668
i havent actually read aesthetic theory, or indeed all that many works relating to aesthetics per se..... there's a rly cool collection of essays by adorno, bloch, lukacs, etc, published by verso (of course) as Aesthetics & Politics, its cool..... & the work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction if you havent already...... right now im reading REFLECTIONS ON VIOLENCE BY GEORGES SOREL which doesnt have a lot to say actually about art but is a p good reflection of the Aesthetikz Krew ideology imo...... re: adorno tho, its really hard to read the culture industry and not agree with everything in it but at the same time u have to remember that adorno was a grody ole sourpuss who didn't like jazz and would have HATED dubstep..... like i sympathise with his tastes, i love high modernism and so on, but his idea that high modernist works have a universality which culture industry works lack looks kinda weird when you consider the global popularity of the latter
#669
a cool book to read is bourdieu's distinction, which analyses aesthetics from a sociological perspective... its dense in statistics but what he ultimately demonstrates is that the idea of a universal aesthetic running from kant to adorno is basically bogus, our art functions as little more than a class indicator.... i find this incredibly liberating though because once you untether aesthetics from the universal and let it fly off in the vague pomo mist it means you can build an aesthetic that is properly revolutionary instead of class-stratified
#670
yeah adorno and all of his ilk are interesting. but they were basically white supremacist pomo garbage, as is the concept of 'aesthetics'
#671
adorno is pomo. fascinating. tell me more *wheezing nerd chuckle* *glasses fall off* *explodes from cum backlog*
#672
adorno was dumb about a lot of things. the dialectic of enlightenment was basically one long aspergers post

swing jazz for sure, but methinks he may have had a different view of avante garde jazz and for that matter non-mainstream/experimental dubstep if it demonstrates an ability to not succumb to commodification and doesn't easily encourage fetishization of itself. he may tolerate the music if it represents something new and individual and not something always-identical to what already saturates our culture (which probably does eliminate most but not all dubstep tbh).

In music, too, collective powers are liquidating an individuality past saving, but against them only individuals are capable of consciously representing the aims of collectivity

#675
more like a-bore-no
#676
what, in your opinion, constitutes avante-garde jazz, aerdil?
#677
im not trolling i rly like jazz and i wanna have a discussion about it
