the Orange County DA finally released security footage of the brutal beating death of 37-year-old Kelly Thomas, a homeless man from Fullerton, California.

Two police officers, Manuel Ramos and Jay Cicinelli, are now on trial for the killing of Thomas, who suffered from schizophrenia. Cops used their fists and batons to beat Thomas. They Tasered him multiple times. Cause of death was apparently "mechanical suppression of the thorax."

so basically we give these people extraordinary discretion and deadly weaponry, there are millions of them across the US, and yet it's only every few days or so that a video of a handful of them causing any problems of note comes out. sounds like a good track record to me.

There are good cops around, Tommy Lee Jones in No Country for Old Men was pretty sympathetic and had a good heart.

McNulty might have been a bit of an alcoholic maniac at times, but he always meant well. He did his job and wanted to catch the bad guys. Don't hate the playa, hate the game.

The only way I could ever extrapolate beyond "death to cops" would be if you, goldsmith, were murdered by the police and goatstein was framed for it and his only defense was, "the trannies did it."

At a dark point in my life when I was going to go into some illegal work for a dude w/ ties to russian mafia i was spending some time at the bar with him just hanging out bc he was also a relative of this girl i was dating and i was talking about how i hated cops and he said "everybody is policed by somebody" and i was like daaaaamn

In two separate studies, 40% of police officers self-report that they have used violence against their domestic partners within the last year. In the general population, it's estimated that domestic violence occurs in about 10% of families.
  • In a nationwide survey of 123 police departments, 45% had no specific policy for dealing with officer-involved domestic violence.
  • In that same survey, the most common discipline imposed for a sustained allegation of domestic violence was counseling. Only 19% of departments indicated that officers would be terminated after a second sustained allegation of domestic violence.
  • In San Diego, a national model in domestic violence prosecution, the City Attorney typically prosecutes 92% of referred domestic violence cases, but only 42% of cases where the batterer is a cop.
