i honestly can't think of an adult i've interacted with as an adult who i'd call a "bully" but maybe we're just suffering from a lack of good definitions or maybe i'm a just privileged white midwesterner. (i'm definitely that)

i think the point is that the "culture of capitalism, individualism, exceptionalism -america" precedes the psychology of individuals who put their own motivations first all the time. I really don't think the kind of bullying we experience here is universal and seen in other cultures. Of course there is teasing and oneupmanship everywhere, but it's not the same kind of toxic attitudes we see in schools here.
