i wish there were a burrito place very close to me.

i have to travel like 20 - 30 minutes to get to one, sucks.

note that i live above a mexican restaurant and very close to a taco place but... it's not the same... not a mass-produced burrito like at chipotle...

so white.... so white.....

i just finished madame bovary, it's so sad.

I like the way that the scenes of seduction and trepidation are so richly honest and subtly drawn and when it comes time to the actual fucking the author just says "she yielded" and goes on to describe the flowers in the fuck-glade they're in.

its a pretty sumptuous read. actual written pornography detailing real fucking would be kind of redundant in a sense.

was it you or someone else that suggested him to me? i've read most of his essays on literature (infinite conversation, and the space of literature, and a few more things) though i haven't read any of his novels/stories beyond those p. short ones.

Yeah i didn't mean to be dissing it, I like it and in today's porn-soaked world it's not like i'm stinging to know what shade of pink Emma's nips were.

Sumptuous is a good description.

i've never read any, should i?

pornography is kind of boring and is now everywhere, it just seems like a book of it wouldn't be particularly shocking or interesting.

watch salo, you'll get the gist of it without having to read anything

you should definitely read sade, philosophy in the bedroom or one of his novels (juliette or justine, theyre equally good iirc, one is about a 'bad girl' who gets all the advantages in the life, the other is about her cousin who's a 'good girl' who gets destroyed by life). the fusion of philosophy and narrative and porno is awesome and usually outright hilarious (theres one scene in philosophy of the bedroom where they interrupt their salacious orgy so he can read a 30 page long excerpt from a little political pamphlet he's writing and trying to distribute around and they discuss it), and guys like kundera write about this 'advance' in the novel where philosophical essays are inserted to alter the narrative even though sade was doing it 200 years ago

im reading the hannah arendt essay by the same title and its great

#1313
arendt suxxx
#1314
arendt is correct and requires refutation
#1315
lol whether or not she's 'correct' isnt even an issue worthy of discussion, shes a foundational figure in the liberal critique of 'totalitarianism' and her essentialising identification of totalitarianism as a singular phenomenon is one grounded in liberal hegemony & is an important weapon used by the bourgeoisie against any emancipatory project. i havent read her stuff on violence tho, maybe theres something redeemable in it i guess but i doubt it
#1316
liberalism seems pretty cool.

her arguments in on violence are perfectly valid

she called black power students silly and outrageous (in a specific context) which was pretty cool, and seeing as how angela davis is a big CPUSA-Obama person now that seems pretty cogent in hindsight

#1318
lol. trolled, emancipatory movements. you just got Arendt'd
#1319
there was a small rally today to rename a ucla building after two black panther students who were shot there and i'd had literally no idea it happened (the shooting, not the rally) which is a p big indictment of basically everyone involved imo. except the ralliers i guess
#1320
do you go to ucla
