i argued with some religious guy recently that G-d's ban on swine wasnt due to any sort of spiritual uncleanliness of the animal, but was just practical advice to keep ppl from getting trichinosis, but he said i was wrong because nobody knew that trichinosis existed back then

i really doubt the "vast majority" of the human race thinks dietary prohibitions are silly and arbitrary, given that at least 1.5 billion people adhere to it, another 1.5 billion or so respect it as an abrahamic tradition, and the vast majority of the other half of humanity probably not knowing about it or ever giving it a second's thought

Pork prohibition likely was just a food taboo similar to those found in all cultures which was codified into religious law. Saying it was about disease potential is giving way too much rational ability to the early followers of Judaism who from all evidence were belligerent savage retards
