Favori
Not limited to the internet era.
I don't think there has been a funny person with the courage of their convictions since the early 19th century. La Caricature editors impersonating the prosecutor to satirize their own treason trials had balls. Jon Stewart, not so much...

I refuse to watch evangelical Christian action movies with Kevin Sorbo or read trad Catholic columnists for laughs myself. I require someone to summarize them for me.

"shithead with a brewery made out of embezzled podcast donation money" sounds like a prime candidate for tHe rHizzonE's Next Top Poster

the reason why literally every vaguely left of centre political jokeman podcast is unlistenable. personally i don't want to listen to john oliver but 5 years younger and cosplaying as a communist

They had Grover Furr on once and it’s their only good episode. Everything else is unlistenable. Imagine one guy reading his effort post but it takes 2 1/2 hrs because every other member has to butt in with the least comedic joke possible every couple seconds.
The left twitter description is pretty accurate, the emotional vibe swings wildly, one episode a dude was just sobbing on the podcast.

id be down with a collective trimestrial zine though, maybe have the good posts (decided on upvotes/interesting takes) from that period condensed into a 20-30 pages format, some cool art we all submit, some frontpage worthy posts also. i assume some of you have experience when it comes to editing pamphlets/leaflets so we could even pool money to put out a paper version at some point - im not talking thousands of units, some limited edition stuff, like a 100 max - and send the money collected to the new peoples army or the naxalites
I'd say that the proliferation of podcasts is due to the fact that computerized speech transcription is still a very crude, inexact, and rudimentary science, so you can say a lot more in audio that you might not be allowed to say in print with the fair assumption in mind that no one is ever going to transcribe it. This obviously has benefits for both the far left and the far right, politically.
You also have to consider the audience and what medium you might reach them with.
Ever-increasing numbers of people are already forced to read screens at work all day long. Are they going to come home from their screen-reading jobs and read more screens at home, too? I think the audio mediums reach them because they're willing to have such things playing as background noise while they're doing something that isn't screen-reading.

The answer: yes, and they’ll listen to podcasts the whole time too
