It was a press conference from a safe location. At one point she said that "T.I. and Killer Mike own half the west side" as part of her argument that the property destruction was just hurting "the community", which I thought was an oddly specific reference, until it turned out T.I. and Killer Mike were there and took their own turns at the podium to plead for the preservation of their class interests
After indicating that she was "behind the line" created by officers, reporter Kaitlin Rust of television station WAVE was hit by a non-lethal offensive weapon by an alleged member of the Louisville Metro Police Department. In the video, the officer can also be seen aiming at the cameraman.
"I've been shot!" Rust screamed after the weapon was fired. She then said it was only a rubber bullet and that she was fine. Rust then corrected herself and said she had been shot with a pepper ball.
The officer then pointed his weapon at the news photographer. "They're aiming at us," Rust said. "They're aiming directly at us."
News anchors in the WAVE studio commenting off-screen said, "They're shooting at our crew," as Louisville Metro Police Department attempted to form a line across a street in the background. Another off-screen voice said, "Do they not know that—obviously, they can see the camera."

One interesting difference in strategy between left orgs are the communist parties that try to be more public and those that try to work in the background, I saw that difference play out and wanted to get people’s thoughts. One communist org that always puts their names on signs on protests had anarchist organizers come up to them multiple times upset because 1) they don’t like their politics and 2) they don’t want that org to be able to lay claim to the achievements of the protest. This is contrasted to the approach where people tend to utilize mass orgs as the primary way their interface with the public, identify the most advanced, and bring them into the fold. The very open strategy has worked well in a few areas where this org has been able to build coalitions, and I think this also gets to the analysis of whether the correct approach is a party vs a pre-party formation.

The meeting was very tense and continued throughout the night and into the morning. There were two lines put forward, diametrically opposed to each other.
One was to fight back if the enemy brought troops to terrorize us. We would fell trees to block all the road leading into the plantation. Red Guards with their captured guns would be stationed at the most critical points. The rest would be assigned to patrol duty, to guard the food stores, and to guard the generator and the water plant. This line corresponded to the psychological inclination of the majority of the workers at the time. That very night, after they returned from watching the cheo performance (musical theater - pogfan), the workers divided up on their own intiative to prepare weapons. Some gathered up sacks of kitchen ashes to fling in the faces of the soldiers, others refitted their hatchet heads more firmly in place. The Red Guards members taught each other to fire the guns, because the fact was that the majority of them knew nothing about how to shoot. They thought very simply and very heroically: "What difference does it make if we live or die! If they come tomorrow, we will fight. If we fight, we will fight to the end." We could well be proud of that aggressive spirit.
The second line was advanced by a minority that included me. I said, "The party has not yet directed us to seize power. If we seize power, we must do it at the same time throughout the whole country. That way enemy units will not be able to rescure each other. If Phy-rieng rises up now, all by itself, the enemy will bring in troops to terrorize and repress us. We must change the direction of our struggle to avoid defeat."
The result was that when the colonial military came, they said that they were just on a general strike because the contract was broken by the plantation owners, and they lined up all the guns at the plantation director's villa. They ended up winning most of their demands, but the leadership was slowly captured and arrested over the next months and sent to prison, where they learned to be better organizers and the rest is history.
It's really interesting to see this similar two-line struggle play out, but without the dem cent structure it leads to different people and ideologies taking different approaches in their own time/space in line with the St Paul Principles. It allows for a large coalition of different groups to participate despite different class and ideological foundations, but the big challenge will be coordinating on a national scale.

a "significant part" is not "extremely true." there are a few cases of people trying to subvert and take advantage. the idea that it is ubiquitous is propaganda to defang popular anger and divide protesters against one another. literally textbook propaganda violet.

ok more specifically what I mean is that there are plainclothes fascists using these events as an excuse for violence, and there are cops performing destructive actions in a coordinated effort to discredit the movement and fabricate excuses for arrests. while those facts will be twisted and abused, it's still important to assert the truth of what's going on in order to fight confusion of the above events with the righteous actions of the USA's oppressed people taking action to defend themselves. because the propagandistic element here is not in the acknowledging or disavowing of violence, but in the deliberate conflation of very different political actors with very different purposes. I think we're on the same page here?

It's an argument that's been mobilized by liberals desperate to save face from having the protests they endorsed a few days prior grow more and more militant, the flip-side of the right-wing "white out-of-town anarchists (Soros antifa commandos???)" argument, and serving basically the same purpose.
Big FYI: For years, NYPD have had undercover cops deployed based on a color of the day model. Today it’s white, tomorrow could be green.
