Nah he got a new one. PR for the Trump re-election campaign
"On Wednesday, the chief United States military spokesman here, Brig. Gen. Kevin J. Bergner, provided a new explanation for Mr. Baghdadi’s ability to escape attack: he never existed.
General Bergner told reporters that a senior Iraqi insurgent captured this month said that the elusive Mr. Baghdadi was actually a fictional character whose declarations on audiotape were read by a man named Abu Abdullah al-Naima.
General Bergner said the ruse was devised by Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the Egyptian-born leader of the insurgent group Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia. Although the group is mostly Iraqi, much of its leadership is foreign, and Mr. Masri was reportedly trying to mask the outsiders’ dominant role."

A top journalist has resigned from his post after management killed his report on the bombshell news that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) suppressed a mountain of evidence suggesting that the 2018 Douma Chemical Weapons Attack in Syria was staged.
Newsweek’s Tareq Haddad announced on Twitter that, rather than accepting top-down censorship on an important issue, he was publicly walking away from his job at the New York-based magazine.

God, what a windbag conspiracy theorist you are.
If you compare the original redacted report to the unredacted one that WikiLeaks released it's really stunning the difference. Like for example the team decided not to exhume buried bodies because they couldn't find evidence of chemical weapons this was kept from released report. pic.twitter.com/Je5wwf6jRy

this seems a little too coincidental now. it's Christmas in Russia, not Syria, and the trip was unannounced
Are Turkish generals really going to march a few columns of Korean War era tanks without air support at Russian and Hezbollah fighters backed by the entire Russian air force or is there about to be another coup?

Massive massive bombardment !https://t.co/ATsMenyFnl
Additionally, for the Turkish troops to be a deterrent against getting bombed by the RuAF, the Russian air force needs to know where they are, so they have to have provided the coordinates of nearly all their bases to the exact same people they have been threatening a war against all month.
So I would suspect that what erdogan is going to do is partake in the time honored NATO tradition of being utterly fucking humiliated.
The good guys could unquestionably shut the Turkish military off entirely with a strategic missile attack against all the known bases in Idlib. But that also risks provoking a large escalation and the occupiers and terrorists are squatting around civilians hoping to provoke that kind of a massacre to bait the US in if hitler barbie cries again.
The turks are doing ok at the propaganda war but the videos of those drone strikes don't really look like they're accomplishing anything. Turks are claiming thousands dead, SAA admits to a few dozen. Even putting aside probably true allegations that they're recycling footage from Libya or Kurdsrael or video games or training, the shots they're showing basically look like antitank missiles. Really dramatic in closeup black and white propaganda vids, but aside from the longer reach that's probably not strategically different from all the hits the Syrians have been taking for almost a decade from US/TK supplied TOW ATGMs. SAA has been hit by more antitank missiles than anyone in history and they have upgraded their tanks defensive systems. Some of those drone strike hits are likely nothing but noise. One T-72 supposedly ate 4 missiles in one month last year and kept on rolling. I'm guessing the tanks and aluminum APCs that the USA lost the Vietnam war with are not quite so rugged.
I don't think anyone in history has written a book on military strategy after ordering his troops to chase retreating Russians. The map is going to start looking more fluid day to day as they push forward, clear a town of jihadists, try to smash fortifications and seize or destroy heavy weapons, and determine which towns are worth holding onto and which have had the civilian population evac and are suitable to use for ambushing the terrorists and turks when they come back to recapture it.
The Sy/Ru/Ir axis is blowing up armored columns and taking cities, and the Turks are hitting A Tank or a squad and making wolf howls then going to a funeral for 20 dudes. One of these strategies will probably work.
