Protests against austerity measures, sparked specifically by a recent reform package that ended fuel subsidies, have been going on for about a week now in Ecuador. The people there aren't happy they're going to have to suffer because the former president decided to take out one too many IMF loans. Tons of roads into the capital have been blocked off, and the government itself has moved away from the capital. The president has said he isn't resigning, and isn't overturning the reforms. Police have been incredibly violent, they've even been filmed throwing tied-up protestors off a bridge.

looks like moreno is on the run and the goverment has decamped out of quito to guayaquil
It's getting hard to keep track of which protests are CIA color revolutions and which ones are good anti-imperialist ones and I almost got this one wrong at first because the president is called "Lenin"
all power to the imaginary correaist infiltrators
I apologize to announce that i am the one behind the protests..... with a big bag of best wishes!!
this lenin is def. not as good as the first one
You're right, beating your wife isn't a good look but being a Fascist is worse I guess.
The Ecuadorian government is now assassinating indigenous leaders.
Yesterday, an indigenous leader was assassinated in Ecuador. This is his son explaining how it happened and the truth behind who killed him. Please share! https://t.co/dFbI9gcMO1

remakes always suck
Looks like the protests are coming to an end. We didn't get a Marxist-Leninist Ecuador but Moreno backed down and the protesters (mostly) got what they wanted, a reversal of some austerity measures. Still disappointing none of the police or military will be prosecuted for their pretty blatant and murderous brutality. https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2019-10-14/ecuador-deal-cancels-austerity-package
well hold on now, let's see what the IMF has to say about this "anti-austerity" gobbledygook
