the media can never be a positive force for discourse. the media attention on income inequality was forced on them by OWS. rush limbaugh, outrageous shit santorum says about women and sex, and what the cathoic church thinks about contraception (all of which have come within a week or so) are the media trying to change the discourse back to things that don't matter. that's the difference here. misogynistic culture is a serious issue, but this is not an issue addressing it. this is a manufactured issue to rile up both bases and distract from the reality of misogyny, which is patriarchy and capitalism. the reality is that both parties are part of the same system and there is no difference between Romney, who will obviously be the nominee, and Obama who has come out of all of this as progressive hero.

it's not like once you obtain Level 500 of Leftism you only engage in certain conversations like some sort of brilliant mathematician that never comes out of her isolated mountain castle. that's not really how it works, you're constantly teaching people and learning more yourself, building overlap and trying to learn from your peers. it's not like there's some huge leftist base to work from, where all that is left to be done is to solve a few problems and engage in the Correct struggles.
