i tend to wait until i can find a game at the local used game store for $20 or less which means i never get to play with my friends online because they are all playing cod wwii or somesuch. i also usually get the previous years ea sports games so theres nobody to play against online. the worst part is i can totally afford new games but i dont buy them on some sort of halfbaked Principle (im cheap)

I think I might ascend with this wizard in Slash'EM.. i found like 5 wishes already, I'm saving a magic lamp for an amulet of drain resistance or a blessed tinning kit, I have magicbane, deluder, I found vorpal blade lying out on the floor and was gifted frost brand, I can cast identify with 0% failure, and I'm polymorphed into a gug all the time.... I should start going with crystal golem after I get the eye of the aethiopica since I'll have two sources of magic resistance and won't need my cloak. The deepest special level I've raided is grund's stronghold (thank you spined devil of anhur) so I have the whole mid game for alchemy. 2018 is a good year for video games.

i played the baldur's gate expansion: siege of dragonspear recently and thought it was pretty decent

then i decided to visit the rpg codex and check out the dragonspear thread for a laugh (or for suffering) and witnessed the amazing spectacle of 150+ pages of nerds being furious over the presence of a minor trans character in their beloved franchise. truly the end times are upon us all

i'd have figured they'd rally around the con-game/disaster of a far-right video game company crowd-funding campaign by this point. it would be such an easy way for a couple of them to rip the rest of them off using their beliefs as cover, and since their ideology promotes that behavior, it seems like they can't resist it

lol i had to google that and sure enough its that shitty looking medieval thing, kingdom come deliverance. i happened to see the trailer for it the other day without context and could see straight away it was a poorly disguised alt right masturbatory fantasy. then i saw an article that says it has a 20gb day one patch. nazis: not very good at winning wars or making video game

One of the funniest things is when gamers get extremely mad at someone for saying 'gamer' is dead as an identity. i think whats meant by "realistic" in this context is that the underlying logic connecting various gameplay systems kingdom: come: deliverance is attempt to more faithfully uphold the traditional simulationist aspirations of western rgps, imposing thereby severe restrictions on the players ability to overpower the game world through an improbable or superhuman statistical advantage, and ultimately making for an all around more convincing and immersive single player experience than, for example, the elder scrolls v: skyrim

yeah im playing it. its pretty fun but the combat is a bit of a letdown (very RPG/stat heavy, low skill ceiling, despite what initially looks like a very detailed set of mechanics).
