That China article at least is being near-universally shat upon in DSA New Members facebook group. Opinions range from like "well it's not great otoh he has a point about windfarms also we're a BIG TENT" to "get this nationalist trash off our website", tending toward the latter.

And rolaid is right that actually purging communists at this point would devastate the org.

this is true, purges are for parties with standards (good or bad.) the DSA wants to be like canada's NDP, bolstering its lower ranks with a broad stripe of leftist voters and volunteers who feel like they have no other options but keeping them out of the "realistic" middle and upper leadership so that they can maintain strategy and policy acceptable to the status quo of the western imperialist political class
