Ahaha yes, frat dudes are often some if not all of these things... but am I really a loser for pointing this out? A liar? Maybe I'm just not clear on the Facts.. care to go over them one more time? And be clear to point out how you were not raping this lady or paying her pimp for sex after picking her up in a seedy expat bar so I won't be dishonest again!

i already said you have no interest in being honest, now you're just pretending to be neutral and didn't mean anything bad. you could quite easily go look for yourself exactly what happened instead of making me try and summarize it so it can be twisted. the end result of all of this is you, future widow, and maybe a couple of other people don't like me because i don't actually want to discuss my life on here and don't care what you think of me. like i said, i guess our forums personalities will continue to clash until somebody gets banned.

Yeah perhaps, but sleeping with Filipino prostitutes just seems so far out of bounds of what this site and the people in it are generally “about” and all your postings about fighting white first world hegemony and so forth.

The personal is obviously political and I’m just surprised you don’t see your participation as kind of problematic with regards to your politics.

I’m no saint and no, I don’t double-check all my purchases against my political context but going to a city like Manila and engaging in prostitution?.....just seems remarkably un-self aware.

instead it's just women complaining about you paying $$ to sleep with our sisters

you're pretty much a maoist, right dude? can I explain why this was upsetting in the first place? it's more like a betrayal than anything and it's something women come across all the time. guys have great politics, they know their theory and even great organizational skills but when it comes to women they're just as skeevy and opportunistic as any other guy and are seemingly unable to accept any criticism about it

it's really weird that your "real life enjoyment" involves sleeping with prostitutes

yeah but once again that's not what happened. you can easily find the thread and see for yourself.

ugh fine once again that's not what happened. I got drunk with a friend and hooked up with a girl. when we went back to her place she asked me to give 500 PHP to her landlady to let me stay which I didn't really think about because i was drunk obviously. the next morning with a clearer head i thought she probably was a prostitute though I never actually found out, but since almost all of the women you meet are going in to be prostitutes it probably was the case and unless you abstain from all sex poor decisions like the one i made will probably happen.

but this is all besides the point, the whole thread got derailed and now this one before i had even said anything and everything else i talked about was ignored, showing me that none of you are honest at all and just want to attack me because personal shit and substituting for real life is what LF has always been about.

There’s also the factor that a white dude sleeping with philipino prostitutes manages to hit pretty much every facet of exploitation from gender to race, class to geography……

I dunno man, you’re not gonna go to hell for it but futurewidow is pretty dead on I think. I’m as perverted as the next dude but sometimes you gotta keep yourself in check.

and of course with more traditional "consumer choices" the exploitation is concealed behind a long supply chain with production hidden from exchange every step of the way

Yeah that's pretty common in places like Southeast Asia and also Brazil. I figured it wasn't like a straight up buying a streetwalker situation, like maybe you took her out shopping or something (happens a lot, for example, with Italian and other European tourists in Brazil). Sometimes in these cases their is not a pimp, sometimes there is - the range of how exploitative it is can be pretty wide but even at the least it is still Sorta Fucked Up - but then again you straight up gave her money lol sooooo

you are closing off all possibility of discussion here by saying that someone is somehow fundamentally incapable of speaking the truth ("no interest in being honest") and saying that you wouldn't care if they did anyways. how do you expect to be treated?

I did though, I got angry and shit and in the original thread I was hounding the dude. it got me thinking and this is by no means a new question but it kind of relates with tink's theme of doing things in the Real World: do you ever boot someone effective and capable from a group because of their behaviour towards women? not just on some campus or student group but an organization vital to the people

I don't think that is necessarily an effective strategy w/r/t being pragmatic. The ideal, I guess, would be that it doesn't matter what attitudes men have towards women because the women make the decisions that relate to them, men being fundamentally incapable of understanding them... buuuuuuuut....

I guess the issue also exists about whether there should be mens spaces and womens spaces - obviously someone with any degree of misogynistic attitudes should not be organizing ANYTHING that has to do with women... once again this is more or less infeasible within the context of like a general purpose leftist organization

#191
i was going to say something similar - that this thread actually does connect somewhat back to tink's op, as a case study in the contemporary left's reflexive focus on blatant individual transgressions in lieu of systemic etc etc

assuming that "vital to the people" includes women amongst said people then, imo, yes. seems counterproductive otherwise

sorry, it's not pragmatic to kick out valuable guys? my issue is more with dudes using their position in an org to bully women or push them into sleeping with them. usually they're not overtly against things like women's groups or resources for women or whatever.. they might think they're unnecessary but they're far more likely to separate the personal from the political entirely and think that whatever work they do irl gives them a pass in their personal life

women should def. be making their own decisions and ideally, a dude like isn't given an important position in the first place but shit happens in real life just like bphn said
