Capitalist: The tenets of Marxism would turn man against man, all vying for scarce resources the result of which result in total economic collapse!

comedy was an important part of soviet life. in the 1920s, innovative socialist theatre troupes would play all over in neighbourhoods in communities and workplaces.

That would make a lot of sense, since higher quality live comedy pretty much always comes in the form of groups, rather than a single person on a stage ranting.

It is easier for comedy to be reactionary because it's easier to get your audience to laugh at something that goes against the status quo. That isn't to say that getting your audience to laugh at the status quo itself isn't a lot better and far more engaging, because it is, and some stand up comedians (like George Carlin on occasion) even do this, it's just more difficult do, and often requires a team effort (different actors) to pull it off on a consistent basis.

A single person talking can really do only so much to frame a narrative palpable enough to an audience.

I would say that improv is a better medium for more sophisticated forms of comedy. (That is if you can find good improv that isn't snatched up by production studios)

Standup is bad because it's asking what the deal is with something or hey what's with this weird societal quirk, but instead of like looking it up or thinking about the real answer, you just have some 27yo bald alcoholic say some incorrect bullshit

That and terrible analogies
