the very idea that saudi arabia are contemplating a war against lebanon seems absurd; they're just not capable of doing it militarily, and thei're already embroiled in one war that is going so-so/badly for them. the war in yemen has also shown their lack of military capability and the absolute reliance on mercenaries betrays their inability to cope with saudi soldier casualties on the "home front"; and this is a country it doesn't even share a land border with... a non contiguous war is such an endevour, both financially and militarily, you ould conduct a so-so air campaign but would probably end up with a suprising number of jets shot down...i just dont understand this someone please help me understand this

the more they lose the more they angrily lash out. isnt that how various powers historically go down

what if saudi jets fly over jordan/syria to bomb lebanon, and unable to strike back at saudi arabia, hezbollah eventually fires a rocket into israel, justifying another israeli campaign against lebanon, so that they can start gettimg bombed insanely by both israel and ksa at once

I don't know what the fuck this guy is getting at, saudi arabia already has an air corridor to lebanon, they can just fly over jordan and then through northern israel or the golan heights, and there's zero rebel territory left on the lebanese border anyway. what are they going to do, fly loop-de-loops over Daraa before going on bombing runs?

Saudi Arabia is in a tight spot domestically as well; endless war is probably a necessity to prop up the state. I don’t know much up the Saudi compradors, someone here probably knows a lot more about the structure of the Saudi comprador class.

So Saudi are holding the Lebanese PM hostage and forced him to resign on TV?? Yet even the US are still referring to him as PM and saying uhh hey guys dont do a war on Lebanon?? This is very confusing and unsettling
#54
Wow sure am glad that the great reformer crown prince's consolidation of power and completely reasonable purge of all internal opposition has as expected lead to responsible forward-thinking direct action, good thing the all those US news puff pieces thoroughly prepared us for this kind of level headed decision making.

Of course he wouldn't attack Lebanon if he had half a brain, and even if he doesn't anyone who could reign him in will have to.

Well the US publicly warning "countries" not to wage proxy war in Lebanon and still recognising their PM is a good sign. I guess Macron was there to try and talk sense too?

MBS shooting his country in the foot trying to establish hegemony, instead he is tearing the region up. All he gets from alienating Qatar and Lebanon is showing the world how toothless he actually is to dictate policy to neighboring states while simultaneously making Iran look like a more sane option. The fucker also looks like every mouth-breathing, under-aged-driving, dokh-smoking, Land-Cruiser owning Khaliji idiot second son I grew up around.

Of course he wouldn't attack Lebanon if he had half a brain, and even if he doesn't anyone who could reign him in will have to.
