i like cacti and suculents and have a bunch in little pots cluttering up my windowsill, and also those cheapy phalaenopsis orchids that are everywhere + some other generic stuff like spider plants and christmas cacti and mother in laws tongues (wow what a rude name) that i know will survive a bit of neglect and lack of sunlight, its a soothing hobby. but mostly i tend to do a lot more outdoor botanising in the countryside than houseplant stuff, wild plants just grow out the friggin ground with no need for looking after them wow
Orchids are really cool. There's a plant conservatory here in town that has climate controlled biomes and is cheap to hang out in for a day, they have temperate and tropical orchid sections and the smell is heavenly. They also had a corpseflower bloom this spring which was gnarly, I went to see it later in the bloom life so the smell was less like rotting meat and more of a deep earthy musk, rather pleasant.
