that is a fair point but i think the article would have actually done well keeping the history into it all rather then acting like we can just glean an abstract list from looking back at the past
i mean take an organisation like the IRA who dont fit with any of those and involved within them a struggle between marxist and nationalist factions, the important lesson from them is about the historical details which can help us understand how the struggle expresses itself in reality not about the fact that for a few years they shot people then they blew people up then developed a party which went on to gloriously sell out
swampman posted:chomsky had a lecture about the drug war and he said that that the whole idea that FARC was in the drug trade was a myth and that in reality they only taxed and regulated the drug trade that happened within their sovereign territory. which like i dunno man... like was that the argument that was going to recall the black helicopters.
they basically own alot of drug production areas (which are Colombian agriculture frontiers) and because of that they tend to act as middle men between drug producers and peasants
in that they do tax the producers as well and its a massive source of their income especially since legal methods have been cracked down on so much and kidnapping has faced such a backlash
occasionally their have been some fronts which have been more explicitly involved in the drug trade but its just not the same game as the paramilitaries who are basically an exstentions of the narcobourgiouse
that book will probably be good as well Brittain has written some good article on the FARC for monthly review and he has a reputation for being pro them but he writes to much about naughty Americans and not enough about agricultural production

Some friend of a friend of a friend jokester at a party the other night thought he was being real irreverent by riling up some girls (my friends) about how hunting was natural and I’m like “yeah, it’s kinda just like that circle of life song by Elton john” and he’s like “EXACTLY” and then I’m like “or that school in Connecticut last month” and he got like super offended and looked around at people genuinely sort of scoffing like “can you believe that” and my friends are just like yeah whatever that’s iwc
And then everybody sat down and smoked
Thanks, I’ll be here all week try the veal
dude don't fuck with me irl please. Be chill.

You've basically described neoliberalism

But yeah, today I see the post I made all the time from extreme Maoists and I would respond with something similar to what getfiscal or jools posted. That can only be a good thing though, the more extreme Maoists the better and I feel good about the youth of today who are way more radical than our generation.
Still don't know shit about Malaysia though if anyone has a book rec who isn't an insane person.

'Alias Chin Peng: My Side of History' was cited in this video and so is probably good.

The Board of Freeholders on Wednesday plans to introduce a $2 million spending ordinance to replace all of the toilets in the older sections of the jail with so-called low-flow toilets.
These specialized toilets will permit an inmate just one flush per hour and will have sensors built into the rims of the bowls that will trigger an emergency cut-off valve in the event of an overflow. A manual switch will also be installed in control areas of the complex so that corrections officers can also immediately shut down the sewer system if necessary.

Eventually someone is going to try and charge people per toilet flush if they have not already
