The challenge of Africa is completely different, it is much deeper. It is civilizational today. Failing states, complex democratic transitions, and I'll call back to what I said this morning... One of the essential challenges of Africa...... one of the countries, that today has seven or eight children born to each woman. You can choose to spend thousands of euros, but you will stabilize nothing. Bloody nonces nicked me mobile innit

centrism and fascism and that old fucker in the pub are all converging, as they were ever fated to and only historical materialist analysis reveals

i mean it's true that dumping a bunch of money into africa isn't going to do anything good. it would just go into the pockets of the major colonial powers/corporations that extract everything from everyone with efficiency that can only make corporations in the global north very drooly.

i didn't post anything about it but i went to a couple of critical theory (read: marx yelling) sessions in the past couple of weeks in London and some seemingly fairly clued up people were talking about civil war in South Africa being a real possibility because of how intensely fucked everything has gotten through a very long, completely bogus, and unrecoverably co-opted post-apartheid reconciliation / redistribution / rewriting-the-constitution process. or at least that's what I gathered.

the future is not as fun as those kids books said they would be. though it is true that i really can order airplane tickets from my couch. thanks, future!

"the future's bright" I say, watching a nuclear detonation on the horizon

the translation everyone is using to defend macron:

Not jacking off is one of our most important duties.
#11
otoh everyone who still likes Hillary Clinton will defend this in ways that will destroy the Democratic Party. Silver linings people.

Is this really any different from what any other liberal has said about Africa? To me at least, the racism doesn't read any less hidden than usual. I'm pleasantly surprised this is getting backlash from liberal circles.
#13
for americans, all it takes is the same words from the mouth of a frenchman for the racist filth to suddenly become visible.
#14
Yeah this is standard normal liberal stuff about Africa. It's great that now it's being exposed and discussed on the internet as the racist bullshit that it is though!

this is a whole other discussion but i find it strange that random internet people, or anyone, translates things in anything but in the most literal way attempting to keep as much of the original form and content of the source material. like what do you get out of changing up a few sentences like that, how do you really believe that you aren't attributing subtleties to them that they didn't intend. unless you are actually translating a work of fiction or something like that. seems Bad
