prior to an outreach meeting we organized, there really hadn't been any public left-wing opposition to the party orthodoxy. i was kind of ignorant of just how many wavering party workers and organizers had attended up until this point but, basically, from their perspective, it established a militant communist organization that was capable of absorbing them. i later found out that every other member of our baby politburo was active in the young democrats around here to a fairly considerable degree.

anyway, a student working with the university press came with us to a meeting and asked us a bunch of questions for the campus paper. about a week later, the article was published, which quoted a fairly prominent young dem organizer and standing chairperson saying stalin literally did nothing wrong. the young dems had a fucking aneurysm and started rallying internally for a general purge of anyone who didn't self-identify as a "liberal".

Good to see the next generation of pundits is the same as the current generation of pundits

this sunday my niece is getting baptized and my brother asked me to be her godfather. i went through a brief class about it and im starting to feel intimidated. i thought i, like, have to raise her if my bro and sister in law die and buy her birthday presents for a little while if they dont. turns out, on my day of judgment christ is going to hold me to account for my performance as a godfather. not whether i buy her gifts once a year, but whether or not i helped her adhere to the church and its teachings
